Orioles minor league report: DL Hall, Baltimore’s No. 2 pitching prospect, has been sent down to Sarasota. Here’s why.

Orioles minor league report: DL Hall, Baltimore’s No. 2 pitching prospect, has been sent down to Sarasota. Here’s why. During spring training, the Orioles remained committed to stretching out left-hander DL Hall as a starting pitcher rather than converting him to a reliever.Their recent decisions continue to prove that commitment.Because of diminished fastball velocity, Baltimore is having Hall take a step back on the mound with the hope he can take two steps forward in the weight room.In mid-May, the Orioles decreased Hall’s pitching workload, having him throw about 50 pitches once per week while increasing his weight training regimen. On Saturday, the organization took another step in that direction, sending Hall down to its training complex in Sarasota, Florida, to focus more on his strength training while still throwing on back fields and in live-game situations.A lower back injury limited Hall’s weight training this offseason and gave him a slow start to spring training, during which he didn’t pitch in game action the first few weeks and also displayed diminished velocity.Trip...

David French: The Supreme Court strikes the right balance on voting rights

David French: The Supreme Court strikes the right balance on voting rights One of the most important realities of American life is this: No nation can fully undo the effects of 345 years of state-sanctioned bigotry — from slavery to Jim Crow — in 59 years. The time period between the arrival of the first slaves on colonial shores in 1619 and the abolition of legalized discrimination with the passage of the Civil Rights Act in 1964 is simply too long, the discrimination too ingrained and the distortion of society too great to wave the wand of legal and cultural reform and quickly realize the dream of American equality. At the same time, there’s another vital American reality: Through grit, determination and immense courage, Black Americans and other marginalized communities have made immense gains, the hearts of countless white Americans have indeed changed and America is a far better and fairer place than it was in even the recent past. And now, at last, in the vital area of voting rights, Supreme Court authority reflects both these truths.Earlier this month...

98.3 TRY Social Dilemma: Should You Have to Consult With Your Spouse To Change Your Hair? ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma has to do with appearance. Here's the email: Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Hi Jaime my name is Austin and I have a dilemma that came up between me and my wife. My wife had to go away on a business trip for a week. While she was gone I decided I wanted to do something really different with my hair. I've been blonde my whole life, well, dirty blonde, but I decided I wanted to go full on black. I decided I would just surprise her with my new look when she got home. However, when she got home, well, she was surprised, but not in a good way. She couldn't believe I changed my look without talking with her about it first. She said we've been married for 14 years, and the least I could have done was consult her about the change. I told her I wasn't being unkind, it was just something I wanted for me, and that it didn't have anything to do with her. She's still giving me a b...

Ask Amy: Woman wonders how to meet agreeable men Dear Readers: Like you, I’m often curious about what happens to the advice I offer once it leaves my desk, and so I’ve asked readers to send in “updates” to let all of us know how my advice was received, if it was followed, and how things turned out.The responses have flowed in, and I’m interested and often gratified to learn what impact this experience has had on readers. This year I celebrate my 20th year of writing this column. Publishing these updates reminds me that we have been through a lot over these past decades. Some of these updates read like postcards from old friends, and I’m happy to share them.To refresh all of our memories, I’m running the original Q&A, followed by the update.Dear Amy: I am a divorced 52-year-old woman who is experiencing a disturbing situation. Men I meet for possible relationships have what I describe as argumentative personalities. They are never agreeable with any topics that come up in conversation. The topics range from personal decisions to p...

All you need is love, say LGBTQ+ activists on divided Cyprus Separated by politics but united in pride, members of LGBTQ+ communities came together in celebration late on Saturday (17 June) in the no-man's-land that splits Cyprus in two.Setting off from opposing sides of Nicosia, Cyprus's divided capital city, activists converged in a United Nations controlled buffer zone, turning it into a sea of rainbow flags where people cheered, embraced and kissed.Cyprus was split by ethnic violence which culminated in a Turkish invasion in 1974 triggered by a brief Greek inspired coup. The Turkish Cypriot community live in its north, and Greek Cypriots in the south.Saturday's Pride event is just the second to bring together members of LGBTQ+ communities from both sides of the divide.Chanting "peace" and "united by pride across the green line" - a reference to the dividing line - there were cheers when activists draped a building with the colours of the rainbow."We are organizing Pride since 2014 but they were mostly divided, on different sides," said ac...
