By Nikki JamiesonSunny South NewsLow uptake on a recent Coaldale survey means the Town can’t take the results as the town’s general opinion.During their regular Sept. 25 meeting, Coaldale town council reviewed the results of the 2023 Community Satisfaction Survey. The survey, which ran from the beginning of June to the end of July, aimed to gather information and opinions on Town services, facilities and finances, and ultimately act as an useful planning tool for the Town. The survey was first approved by council in July 2022, and for this year’s survey, a total of 74 responses were gathered. Of those responses, five were submitted in paper form while the remaining 69 were submitted online. In addition, four of the survey responses were from non-Coaldale residents, so they were filtered from the overall results.A total of 16 questions/statements were posed in the survey, centering around Town programs/service levels, taxes, how the Town is being run, communication and quality of life...Schenectady Fire Department receives $800K for new fire truck

The shock wasn’t that the Broncos cut linebacker Randy Gregory, paid $1.33 million for each of the 21 tackles he made in a Denver uniform. The shame was coach Sean Payton didn’t tell Gregory to get lost before this NFL season began.“We felt it was best for our team,” Payton said Wednesday, emphasizing the decision to part ways was made by Denver management, contradicting the crazy suggestion from Gregory’s camp that walking out on the Broncos was somehow the player’s idea.Good riddance.Desperate for a pass-rusher in the worst way possible after trading away Von Miller and Bradley Chubb, Broncos general manager George Paton threw stupid money at Gregory before the 2022 season. But after appearing in only 10 games, he leaves Denver with $28 million in his pocket and the distinction of joining offensive tackle Ja’Wuan James, cornerback Dale Carter and defensive tackle Daryl Gardener as the worst free-agent acquisitions in team history. The Broncos should’ve never allowed Gregory on the te...Nuggets coach Michael Malone on comments from Anthony Davis, Lakers: “If they’re still worried about us, that’s on them”

SAN DIEGO — The chatter in El Segundo this week evidently hasn’t traveled down Interstate 5 to Michael Malone’s ears in San Diego. The ninth-year Nuggets coach claimed Wednesday he was unaware that the Lakers, practicing two hours north, have been identifying unspecified trash talk from Denver as bulletin board material for the coming season. Malone also said he doesn’t think the recent talk make Nuggets vs. Lakers a rivalry at this point.“There was just so much of that (trash talk) going on, it was like, ‘All right, we get it, y’all won,'” Lakers center Anthony Davis told Spectrum SportsNet this week. “But me and (LeBron James) had some conversations like, ‘We can’t wait (to play the Nuggets).'”Denver hosts the Lakers on Oct. 24 to tip off the 2023-24 season. NEW YORK — Federal prosecutors on Wednesday opened the criminal trial of Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of the failed cryptocurrency exchange FTX, with a simple message: He deliberately “lied to the world,” leading to one of the biggest financial frauds of a generation.Bankman-Fried’s lawyer advanced a far different narrative. The former crypto mogul, the lawyer said, was simply a well-intentioned entrepreneur who acted “in good faith” to make his firm successful, with no intention to defraud anyone. The dueling arguments are at the crux of Bankman-Fried’s trial, which has become the highest-profile reckoning for a business executive since Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes was convicted of fraud early last year.A onetime crypto wunderkind, Bankman-Fried, 31, became a tousle-haired billionaire overnight, only to see his company collapse last year and his fortune evaporate. He has been charged with orchestrating a conspiracy to use $10 billi...Fleeing robbery suspect causes violent crash; 3 critical
