OVERLAND, Mo. – At the Woodson Park Apartments, one long-time resident has been dealing with an ongoing issue for months. Despite no clear answers from management, Nichelle Vanhook has concerns for her family.“What is this – is it water? Is it mold?” Vanhook said. The ceiling stains first appeared in January in Vanhook’s apartment. In her nine years living at the complex, Vanhook said she’s never seen anything like this. It’s something that’s been a problem for her and her family for the past few months.Vanhook’s concerns are rooted in where the stains are located – in the same room where her children, ages 8, 3, and 1, sleep. With months going by, she’s left with questions concerning their safety. Victim in fatal St. Louis Kitchen shooting identified “What are they breathing in? Ya know, like, what is this?” she said.Vanhook said she reported the spots to management previously.“They came and they painted over it and everything,” she said. “But yet here we are. U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert has been an ardent opponent of raising the country’s debt ceiling to avoid default, but she did not cast her vote on the issue Wednesday. The House passed legislation to raise the government’s debt ceiling on Wednesday just days before a critical deadline that would damage the country’s credit rating and, economists warn, spark a recession. The vote came after days of tense negotiations between House Republicans and President Joe Biden’s administration. The Senate must still pass the measure. The bill passed 314-117 in the House with bipartisan support, well over the simple majority needed, so Boebert’s vote wouldn’t have been the deciding factor in the matter. But the far-right congresswoman, whose sprawling district covers Colorado’s Western Slope, repeatedly spoke out against the move.“This country’s financial standing is already on the edge of a cliff,” Boebert wrote on Twitter on Tuesday. “This current UNLIMITED debt ceiling increase is the burst of wind ...DCPA’s “Riverdance 25th Anniversary Show” is just plain fun | Theater review

The “Riverdance 25th Anniversary Show,” onstage at the Buell Theatre in Denver through June 4, is a fun performance that anyone can appreciate. From the first note, the show is a celebration of itself — an ode to Irish culture and dance that has wowed crowds for more than two decades. Audience members witness the intensity and passion of the dancers and feel the energy of the crowd as it responds to the methodical tapping. The show ebbs and flows between the high energy of the troupe at full power and the reverent nods to traditional Irish music and dance. As someone who tap-danced for 15 years, I loved seeing all the little kids in the audience who talked about their favorite numbers at intermission. There’s something about that repetitive stomping that both energizes and soothes me. You can’t focus on anything but those stomping feet. The highlights:The energy in the room exploded when the full troupe was on stage, dancing in perfect synchronization. The &...Armed person in parked stolen car detained after 3-hour standoff
