HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — At least one home and numerous outbuildings were destroyed along with multiple homes evacuated after a wildfire in Hays County started Saturday. Officials said no more evacuations were in place Sunday. Officials started responding to the fire, named the Oak Grove Fire, shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday, according to the Hays County Office of Emergency Services website. It is estimated at 400 acres and 65% contained according to a social media post at 12:55 p.m. Monday from the Texas A&M Forest Service. Last month, Council Member Mackenzie Kelly took to social media and submitted a memorandum to Interim City Manager Jesús Garza asking for a prompt fix to the vehicles that lack AC. Council member pushes for prompt response from city manager over no AC in AFD vehicles The memo also detailed which trucks had non-functional AC systems at the time. The family of a 12-year-old boy fatally shot in St. Paul is mourning not only his loss, but also his 14-year-old brother’s arrest in the case.Police booked the teen into the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center Saturday on suspicion of manslaughter.“I know it was an accident,” said Charlette Williams, an older cousin of Markee Jones, on Monday.The Ramsey County attorney’s office said Monday that police presented an investigation for review, and state data privacy laws prohibit them from providing any additional information.Williams said the 14-year-old has been calling the family crying.“That was his brother,” she said. “He’s in there hurting. The lightning-sparked Dry Lake fire burning in the San Juan National Forest in southwestern Colorado reached 1,372 acres in size on Sunday, with 47% of the perimeter contained.According to a Sunday news release from U.S. Forest Service officials, the fire started Aug. 1 on national forest land northeast of Bayfield, with smoke visible from U.S. 160.Over the past week, fire teams focused on pre-burning control lines and excess fuel for the fire, officials said.In the Sunday news release, fire officials said they don’t expect the fire to grow further, but continued burning of interior vegetation will likely continue.Monday, crews focused on wetting and maintaining the firelines, according to a tweet from the national forest.The 1,372-acre Dry Lake Fire, burning in the First Notch area of the Columbine District, did not grow today and is 47% contained.
