Team owners will receive an update on the process at their previously scheduled meetings in Minnesota, but no action will be taken. The sale agreement was finalized last Friday. NFL staff and finance committee members will continue to review the details in the meantime. The deal must be approved by three-quarters of the league (at least 24 of 32 owners) and satisfy other customary closing conditions.“Nothing special or out of the ordinary process as we would for any other transaction,” Miller said. The deal is the largest for...DC police identify man killed in April shooting

For some people, getting an egg home from the grocery store without breaking it is a huge accomplishment, but some D.C.-area high schoolers have a much tougher mission this weekend: Send an egg into the sky aboard a rocket and bring it back down without scrambling it.On Saturday in The Plains, Virginia, the American Rocketry Challenge holds its national finals. At Great Meadow, 100 teams from across the U.S. will compete in the largest model rocketry competition, including several teams from the D.C. region.“A lot of work went into trying to make it,” said Stephen Vaz, a senior at Oakton High School in Vienna, Virginia. He said it took the team three months of coming in after school to come up with the perfect design.“We had to make this rocket and then we had to make a backup rocket, too, and that takes time, you know, gluing takes time. You can’t just put glue on there and hope that works in five seconds, you got to space out the entire thing to make sure that you’re ki...Así puedes ver la luna del “resplandor de Da Vinci”, un fenómeno muy común

An annual Memorial Day weekend tradition featuring thousands of motorcycles riding through the nation’s capital will return this year — and this time it will be fully back to its pre-pandemic form.“We’re expecting to get back to real normalcy,” said Joe Chenelly, executive director for AMVETS, the organization hosting the event.“Rolling to Remember,” which was previously known as “Rolling Thunder,” will start at the Pentagon for the first time since 2019.The event was largely held virtually in 2020 due to the pandemic, and it has started at RFK Stadium instead of the Pentagon over the past couple of years.“There will be thousands of motorcycles pouring into the Pentagon’s north parking lot before they all pull out together and go around the Memorial Bridge and the National Mall,” Chenelly said. While Chenelly told WTOP he was grateful that RFK Stadium was available in recent years, he said the symbolism of being back a...Así fue la primera sesión de la cumbre del G7 de Hiroshima

HIROSHIMA, Japan — As if Russia and China weren’t enough to dominate the G7 agenda, the EU added its own feud with the U.S. on the first day of the Hiroshima summit, calling for transparency on industrial subsidies. In the first session of the summit, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen asked G7 leaders — among them U.S. President Joe Biden — to play fair when it comes to green technology. The EU and the U.S. are still trying to hammer out a deal allowing European companies to share in billions of dollars in U.S. tax incentives for electric vehicles, which has been a major source of transatlantic friction since the Biden administration announced the Inflation Reduction Act last year.Addressing a session on the global economy, von der Leyen told G7 leaders: “This clean-tech race is an opportunity to go faster and further, together … Our competition should create additional manufacturing capacity and not come at each other’s expense.”&...Zelenskyy will make in-person appeal to G7 leaders in Japan

HIROSHIMA, Japan — With Russia’s war on Ukraine nearing a potential inflection point, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to travel to Japan this weekend to address U.S. President Joe Biden and other G7 leaders, drawing on this city’s tragic history as a backdrop for his latest plea to secure more military and financial support.Although the details of Zelenskyy’s travel plans remained opaque due to security concerns, the head of Ukraine’s national defense council, Oleksii Danilov, announced the trip on national television Friday, confirming news reports that he would attend.Zelensky, who has traveled in recent days to the U.K. and other European nations, will fly to Japan after an appearance in Saudi Arabia at the Arab League summit. The spate of travel offered Ukraine’s president the opportunity to make in-person appeals for additional support and to show that his country, still under attack from Russian forces in the air and on the ground, is stable enough for him to tr...Employee arrested after allegedly bringing rifle to Mass General Hospital

A Massachusetts General Hospital employee was arrested Wednesday after allegedly bringing a rifle into the hospital, according to a Boston police report obtained by 7NEWS. The report said police responded to the hospital Wednesday night “for a report of a male experiencing a mental breakdown while reportedly carrying a hunting rifle.”Police continued, saying the man “called 911 and stated that he heard god telling him that, if he did not want to be shot, that he should bring his rifle out and also that police were out to kill him.” The report said a responding officer who talked to the man on the phone was able to determine from background noise on the call that the man was near a hospital or fire station. Police soon learned the hospital was Mass General. Police said a hospital security officer “was able to make contact with the suspect and requested he place the object on the ground; not knowing it was a rifle as it was covered by a shower curtain.”The po...Latest news
