Over 3,000 firearms turned in during statewide gun buyback

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Over 3,000 guns were turned in during the statewide community gun buyback events hosted by Attorney General Letitia James and law enforcement agencies. 357 firearms were turned in locally at the buyback event hosted by Watervliet, Cohoes, Colonie, Green Island, and Menands police departments. Authorities are investigating the crash of a small, single-engine plane into a mountainside in Beverly Crest on Saturday night that killed the only occupant.The Los Angeles Fire Department was contacted by air traffic control personnel requesting assistance in locating a plane that had gone missing around 8 p.m. Saturday night. Thick fog made a search by air impossible, so more than a dozen firefighters conducted a three-hour search on foot for the aircraft, which was eventually found near the 3500 block of Beverly Glen Terrace. Four people were stabbed when a fight broke out early Sunday morning in downtown San Jose.One of those people, an adult man, suffered life-threatening injuries in the melee, which happened near S. Almaden Avenue and Post Street, according to the San Jose Police Department.
