Twins cap last day of draft by selecting eight more pitchers The Twins began the baseball draft on Sunday night by getting high school outfielder Walker Jenkins with the fifth overall pick. They ended the draft on Tuesday by selecting another high school outfielder, Ashton Larson.In between, they took a whole lot of pitchers. Of the Twins’ 21 picks, 15 of them were pitchers — and all but two are right-handed.  The Twins started Tuesday’s third and final day of the draft selecting eight straight pitchers before grabbing a pair of outfielders to cap off the draft.Fifteen of the 21 players they selected are coming from college. Six are from high school, including their top two picks, Jenkins and Charlee Soto, whom they picked 34th overall.The Twins have a bonus pool amount that tops $14 million, fourth most in the majors. A spokesperson said they will work with the New York State Department of Health to hire a firm to conduct the study and will work closely with the community to ensure transparency. 1 dead after SUV plunges off cliff in Rancho Palos Verdes At least one person is confirmed dead after a vehicle plummeted over a cliffside in Rancho Palos Verdes Tuesday afternoon, authorities announced.  Rescue personnel responded to the scene near Palos Verdes Drive West and Calle Entradero around 2:45 p.m. according to L.A. County Fire. It is unclear what led to the crash, but when crews arrived, they found what appeared to be a white sport utility vehicle 150 feet over the cliffside.  Aerial video from Sky5 showed the vehicle’s front end completely flattened with debris strewn across the cliffside.  One person died after their vehicle plummeted 150 feet off a cliffside in Rancho Palos Verdes on July 11, 2023. Man punches 80-year-old woman during Culver City robbery; 2 sought Police are looking for two people involved in the assault and robbery of an 80-year-old woman in Culver City Monday.The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot of First Citizens Bank, 10784 Jefferson Blvd., according to Culver City police.The victim told responding officers that a female tried to distracted her as she got into her vehicle. That’s when a male suspect approached her, struck her in the face several times and took her purse before both suspects drove off in a newer gray SUV.Responding firefighters treated the victim at the scene.The stolen purse was described as being an orange Michael Kors and contained a Motorola cellphone, prescription reading glasses, driving glasses, multiple credit and debit cards, the victims driver’s license and $600 in cash.The female suspect is described only as having curly dark brown hair and was wearing neutral-colored clothing, police said. Woman shoved to death on San Francisco sidewalk identified SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- An Asian woman who was shoved to death on a San Francisco sidewalk has been identified. Yan Fang Wu, 63, of San Francisco, was found in grave condition on a sidewalk on 3rd Street near Egbert Avenue in the Bayview District neighborhood, according to police and the Wind Newspaper. The San Francisco Police Department said an unidentified female assailant pushed Wu at 6:40 p.m. on July 3. "Officers spoke with witnesses who said that the victim was walking on the sidewalk when she was approached from behind by an unknown female suspect who pushed the victim, causing her to fall to the ground, and hit her head," Officer Niccole Pacchetti wrote. Two days after the unprovoked attack, Wu died at a hospital from her injuries, Pacchetti stated. Sonoma County brush fire burns vegetation near Cloverdale (KRON) -- A brush fire near Cloverdale on Tuesday afternoon has burned eight acres, according to CalFire. The fire broke out earlier in the day northwest of Cloverdale near the 3300 block of Highway 128. Dog’s life saved with Narcan in Marin County Initially, the blaze was just one to two acres and moved uphill with a wind on it, CalFire said. Timelapse photos of the scene showed the fire grow in size as more smoke gradually began to emit from it.Photos: CalFireAerial units including air tankers were brought in to fight the fire with a total of three tankers and three helicopters engaged in battling the blaze.Units have reportedly made good progress on the fire, which has been tagged as the #HogFire.There have been no reports of damages or injuries in relation to the fire.This is a developing story.
