CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - Sunny skies and 70s are ahead for St. Louis, and it's shaping up to be a nice weekend weatherwise. Some clouds and small rain chances Friday afternoon set the stage for more comfortable weather ahead. One of the nation’s largest grocery chains is the latest company to agree to settle lawsuits over the U.S. opioid crisis.In a deal announced Friday, the Kroger Co. — the parent company of King Soopers and City Market — would pay up to $1.4 billion over 11 years. The amount includes up to $1.2 billion for state and local governments where it operates, $36 million to Native American tribes and about $177 million to cover lawyers’ fees and costs.Kroger currently has stores in 35 states — virtually everywhere save the Northeast, the northern plains and Hawaii. Thirty-three states would be eligible for money in the deal. A newborn boy was safely surrendered at a Los Angeles County Fire Station in Whittier, County Supervisor Janice Hahn announced on Friday.The surrender took place around 8 p.m. Thursday at Fire Station 28 on Greenleaf Avenue, according to a news release. 37-Year-Old Man Arrested after Pursuit Crash near Yosemite ParkwayMERCED, CA (September 8, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, Wayne West Jr., was arrested after a pursuit collision on East Main Street.The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m., near Yosemite Parkway.Per reports, Merced Police Officers were speaking to the driver identified as 28-year-old Karen Walker when the passenger, West Jr., attempted to put it into drive.The vehicle then moved forward into a police unit vehicle. Motorcycle-Vehicle Collision near Interstate 5 Resulted Left One DeadTACOMA, WA (September 8, 2023) – Early Wednesday evening, Travis Horton lost his life in a motorcycle accident.The incident happened on August 16th, just before 5:45 p.m., near westbound State Route 16 and southbound Interstate 5.According to reports, Horton was riding his motorcycle in the area around the State Route 16 ramp from Interstate 5 when he collided with a Mercedes sedan and a Ford pickup.
