Wild coach Dean Evason took over behind the bench on Feb. 14, 2020. He’s approaching 250 games as the man in charge. He maintains that the sellout crowd for Game 3 was as loud as he’s ever heard the Xcel Energy Center.“Absolutely incredible,” Evason said on Friday after the Wild put the finishing touches on a 5-1 win over the Dallas Stars. “Tonight was a level that was off the charts.”It was a similar sentiment from almost every player in the Wild locker room.“When you’re wondering as a kid in the crowd if players hear you or if it affects the game, playing, it sure does, hearing that crowd,” rookie defenseman Brock Faber said. “Just feeding off that was special.”There might have been a reason for the rowdiness throughout Game 3. Let’s just say the 8:50 p.m. puck drop gave fans ample time to pregame on West 7th Street adjacent to the arena in downtown St. Paul.“They probably had a lot of downtime before this gam...Nickeil Alexander-Walker proves he could be valuable long-term piece for Timberwolves

Timberwolves veterans lamented so many things throughout this series as Minnesota dug itself a giant hole against the top-seeded Nuggets. Habits — or the lack thereof — were discussed. Habits like hitting the glass, making sacrificial cuts on offense and simply knowing your defensive assignments and rotations. Those are all things Minnesota lacks as a team, and it’s why such a talented team is not currently at the level of a squad such as Denver. But one player who has not come up short in those all-important areas is midseason acquisition Nickeil Alexander-Walker.The 24-year-old wing has carved out a sizable role with the Timberwolves since he was dealt to Minnesota in mid-February. Part of that is due to the injury of Jaden McDaniels, but another reason is Alexander-Walker’s professional, relentless approach. That approach has allowed Alexander-Walker to acclimate to the playoffs, where attention to detail and preparedness are prerequisites for success. ST. LOUIS – The general manager at Tucker's Place responds to the growing outrage and calls for accountability after a customer at the steakhouse in Soulard left without paying, and explains what they’re doing to combat the ongoing trend seen around town.During Tuesday’s midday lunch rush, one man left a bad taste in management’s mouths.“It gets frustrating, because it’s happening more and more often,” said Todd Westcott, restaurant general manager. It can be hard to figure out what direction the Broncos will take with their five selections in the 2023 NFL Draft. Will the Broncos trade up or down for more picks? Will they continue to add depth on the offensive line after making the trenches a priority in free agency? Will wide receivers Jerry Jeudy or Courtland Sutton get traded for additional selections?Among the endless possibilities heading into this week’s draft, head coach Sean Payton and general George Paton share the same vision so many NFL decision-makers parrot this time of year: Draft the best player available.“If the best player on the board is a defensive end or offensive guard, and we have a clear vision, that’ll happen,” Payton said during last week’s pre-draft news conference. “We would look at a list — and we’re not going to share the list with you — but we would look at (it like), ‘These were some things we’d like to get out of this draft if it’s possible.’ But there’s an ‘if’ there, and we recognize that....Christian Braun, Nuggets’ bench unit “outstanding” so far this postseason

MINNEAPOLIS — When Nikola Jokic headed to the bench with foul trouble midway through the third quarter of Game 3, Minnesota still had life.Without the two-time MVP picking apart their defense, the T-Wolves had reason to believe they could chip away at a single-digit lead and perhaps make this a competitive series. But the steely unit of Christian Braun, Bruce Brown and Jeff Green paired with starters Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon erased that hope. They swarmed defensively, using their versatility to their advantage, and attacked incessantly. That group, regardless of which starters they’re paired with, has an identity. In Braun, they have a fearless rookie who’s predisposed to physicality. In Brown, they’ve got another versatile defender whose motor doesn’t stop. So far this series, Green (and Gordon) have disrupted Karl-Anthony Towns’ rhythm, mitigating Minnesota’s No. 2 option. Even at 36, Green has sacrificed his body three times this series by absorbing charges.“Throughout th...Video captures road-rage confrontation at In-N-Out drive-thru in L.A. County

Video captured occupants of two different vehicles in a heated confrontation while in the drive-thru of an In-N-Out Burger Sunday in Valencia. Calls about the incident, located at 27510 The Old Road, near the 5 Freeway, came in at around 12:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. While it’s unclear what started the confrontation, video shows two women exit a vehicle and approach the driver’s side door of a Subaru Outback behind them. Both women are then seen hitting the vehicle with bottles that spill an unknown liquid on the car. A nearby In-N-Out Burger employee can be seen shaking his head, watching as the incident unfolded. As the two women return to their vehicle, the driver of the Subaru, a woman, steps out of her car, as does a male from the backseat passenger side. Yelling can be heard by both parties, but it’s unclear what was being said. One of the women from the vehicle in front of the Subaru then returns with anoth...Photos: Golden State Warriors narrowly defeat Sacramento Kings in Game 4 of NBA Western Conference playoffs

SAN FRANCISCO — Over the past seven postseasons, the Warriors have been challenged by a steady run of worthy Western Conference foes. The Oklahoma City Thunder, Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, and various versions of the Houston Rockets all swung at Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and the Dubs.Golden State has managed to defeat them all.But the Warriors might have met their match in the Sacramento Kings. It took nearly 40 years for the Kings and Warriors to face off in the playoffs, but it’s proving worth the wait. Now, the Dubs used steady improvement and home-court advantage to win the last two games and tie this once best-of-seven series at 2-2, turning it into a best-of-three.But the Kings were one shot away from ending the Warriors’ dynastic run on Sunday. The Warriors’ past and future hung in the balance as Harrison Barnes’ 3-point shot with 1.5 seconds remaining traveled through the air.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Stephen Curry thought he had a perfect plan, until it backfired. The reigning NBA Finals MVP called a timeout the defending champions didn’t have — and nearly cost Golden State a crucial playoff game. The Warriors held on to beat the Kings anyway. “I ain’t gonna lie, I thought it was the smartest play in the world,” Curry said after a 126-125 victory that evened the best-of-seven first-round series with Sacramento at 2-all. “When I grabbed the ball and turned around and saw the trap, realized there was no real outlets instead of turning it over, it’s kind of the heady play but it turned out not to be. I looked over at the bench and everyone was shaking their head, so it was an unfortunate situation in that respect.”Coach Steve Kerr took responsibility for the ill-advised timeout.“We took the challenge and when the challenge was unsuccessful, as we were exiting the huddle, it’s on me,” Kerr said. “I’ve got to remind the guys, we’re out of timeout...Latest news
