ST. LOUIS, MO – On August 25, a man from St. Louis admitted that he killed a 2-year-old child and injured other people. Leon Russell pled guilty in St. Louis County Circuit Court to running from police, driving a stolen car while his license was suspended, and assault.On April 22, 2022, near West Florissant Avenue and Hudson Road, St. Louis County Police officers tried to stop him while he was driving a stolen car with a suspended license. The car he was driving had just been carjacked in St. Louis. He drove away from the police, avoiding the spike strips and going very fast. He went the wrong way down the road, joined traffic going the other way, ran red lights, and didn't stop at stop signs. SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. — Authorities are searching for a man accused of performing lewd acts while watching women along the southwest shoreline of Dillon Reservoir.The Summit County Sheriff’s Office said between Aug. 21 and 23, it received three reports of a suspicious person near the shoreline of Giberson Bay and the southwestern edge of Heaton Bay Campground. In each incident, the suspect was spotted standing in the trees masturbating and watching females on the lake, the sheriff’s office said.The man was seen between 11 and 11:30 a.m. all three days.The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, standing about 5 feet, 9 inches to 6 feet tall. The S&P 500 was 0.8% higher in late trading after flipping between small gains and losses a few times. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 288 points, or 0.8%, at 34,388 as of 3:05 p.m. Eastern time, and the Nasdaq composite was 0.9% higher.In a highly anticipated speech, Fed Chair Jerome Powell said again that it will make upcoming decisions on interest rates based on what incoming data reports say about inflation and the economy, and he made no promises about what’s coming next. Wall Street had the speech circled on calendars because it was hoping Powell would say the Fed was done with its hikes to interest rates, which grind down inflation at the cost of slowing the economy and hurting prices for investments...Colorado banned legacy admissions at its public colleges. GARYVILLE, La. (AP) — Residents within two miles of a south Louisiana refinery were ordered to evacuate Friday after a fire broke out, sending a tower of thick black smoke into the sky.No injuries were reported and emergency responders said the fire was contained to the sprawling Marathon Petroleum facility in Garyville, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of New Orleans. Air quality monitoring was also taking place, officials said.Photos from above showed orange flames leaping into the air beneath the dark cloud of smoke as emergency crews sprayed long arcs of water onto the inferno. The fire was burning in an section of the refinery surrounded by wide cylindrical storage tanks, and at least one tank appeared to be destroyed. A Los Angeles Police Department unit is under investigation by the FBI after officers allegedly made a practice of turning off their body cameras during traffic stops.The officers, who are members of the Mission Division Gang Enforcement Detail, first came under scrutiny after two officers allegedly searched a man's vehicle without his consent or probable cause, an interaction that was not captured on the officers' bodycams, the Los Angeles Times reports. An LAPD investigation sustained that man's allegations and also "identified similar undocumented incidents and suspected failures to activate their body-worn video cameras involving other members of the same unit," the LAPD said in a Thursday news release.The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office is working "in consultation" with the LAPD, the release said, and they're not the only agencies looking into the allegations."This investigation has been referred to the Public Corruption Civil Rights Section of the United States ...Danny Trejo celebrates 55 years sober

A pilot was killed in a jet crash near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Thursday night.Officials from the base confirmed a F/A-18 Hornet went down around 11:54 p.m. in a remote area east of Interstate 15. The crash site is reported to be on government property.The aircraft is not part of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing but was operating out of MCAS Miramar, according to a news release.
