NEW YORK (AP) — Saturday’s game between the Cleveland Guardians and New York Mets was postponed because of rain.It will be made up as part of a split-admission doubleheader Sunday at Citi Field, with the opener beginning at 1:40 p.m. and the nightcap at 7:10 p.m.With steady rain falling Saturday morning in New York and a wet forecast all day, the game was called off more than five hours before the scheduled first pitch. Max Scherzer (3-2, 4.88 ERA) had been slated to start for the Mets against rookie Tanner Bibee (1-1, 3.22). (AP) — Daniel Suarez won the first heat of All-Star race qualifying at North Wilkesboro Speedway and will start on the inside row for Sunday night’s $1 million exhibition race.Suarez beat out Joey Logano in the 60-lap dash at the .625-mile renovated track on a night in which NASCAR experimented with its wet weather tire package for the first time on the NextGen cars following a light, but steady rain.Logano will start on the second row, followed by Chase Briscoe, Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin.The lineup for the outside row will be determined by the second 60-lap heat Saturday night.The 21 drivers who qualified for the 200-lap All-Star race by virtue of their past accomplishments were divided into two heats as part of a unique format for this year’s race. DENVER (KDVR) -- It looks like something out of an apocalyptic Hollywood movie, but it's just Saturday in the Denver area. Several wildfires burning thousands of miles north in the Western Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia are sending smoke south to the Centennial State. The smoke has become so prevalent and thick, visibility is an issue. Video a driver shot in Highlands Ranch shows how dense the air is, which looks like a dirty fog. The National Weather Service said the thickest of the smoke would be in the Denver area Saturday morning. A Hialeah sandwich shop was bashed by a driver who slammed right through its front window..An SUV plowed into the Subway location in the area of West 49th Street and 12th Avenue, at around 5:20 p.m., Saturday.“All I hear was a bam,” said witness Thomas Pinder.The aftermath of the crash was caught on cellphone video.“The glass came smashing into the building, along with some debris and smoke,” said Pinder.Pinder, who came to South Florida from the Bahaman on a business trip, said he was having a sandwich inside the Subway with his wife when the SUV came barreling in — but not before it hit his rental van.“[The driver] lost control, somehow came across, hit the side of my car, the front side here, and smashed into the building,” he said.By nightfall, crews had boarded up the shop.“Surprising, but thank God, [the driver] is alive and seems to be doing well,” said Pinder.The cause of the crash remains under investigation.Memorial Healthcare’s One City at a Time program kicks off in Hallandale Beach

A South Florida community got a jumpstart on the highway to better health.Memorial Healthcare System’s One City at a Time program kicking off at Foster Park in Hallandale Beach, Saturday.The free event offered health screenings, information and other services to underserved and uninsured communities.“We are going to be taking care of every single city that is in our district in order to be able to ensure that our residents have health,” said Melida Akiti, vice president of Memorial Healthcare System.It was also a day of fun for children of all ages.Memorial’s mobile health centers will be on-site in the city on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for six weeks, then once a week for two years.100 local students treated to dinner at Joe’s Stone Crab

Authorities have identified the 23-year-old man who was fatally shot in Mansfield on Saturday.Officers responding to a 911 call reporting a shooting in the area of 42 Church St. found Samuel P. Waters, 23, of Mansfield, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Bristol District Attorney’s Office.
