CHICAGO (AP) — Miles Mikolas pitched seven efficient innings, Jordan Walker homered and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Chicago White Sox 3-0 on Saturday.Mikolas allowed four hits — all singles — in his first win since May 30. DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Tigers have a combined no-hitter through eight innings against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. Starting pitcher Matt Manning went the first 6 2/3 innings. Manning walked three batters and struck out five. He was pulled after walking Cavan Biggio with two outs in the top of the seventh. He threw 91 pitches. Jason Foley came on in relief and got Whit Merrifield to fly out to end the top of the seventh. AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) -- A mosquito near the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds has tested positive for West Nile virus during routine testing, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The positive test makes Arapahoe County the fifth Colorado county with a positive test already this summer, joining Delta, Boulder, Larimer and Weld counties. The positive tests are happening earlier than last year, with researchers expecting a banner year for mosquito populations along the Front Range. In Boulder County, the first positive test came on June 29, two weeks earlier than last year's first positive test. Police seek the public’s help in their search for an elderly woman who was reported missing in Fort Lauderdale.According to Fort Lauderdale Police, 75-year-old Carolyn Edwards was last seen along the 1600 block of Northwest Seventh Street.Edwards stands 5 feet tall, weighs around 110 pounds, and may be wearing jeans, a green shirt and a black hat. SAN DIEGO — The ghost fork is heading to Seattle.Mets right-hander Kodai Senga was named to the NL All-Star team Saturday afternoon, taking the place of Chicago Cubs right-hander Marcus Stroman. The former Mets starter and Long Island native pulled out of the All-Star Game to rest.The 30-year-old Senga has not disappointed in the first year of a five-year contract. Though he has had to make plenty of adjustments since coming over from Japan, he’s been the most reliable starter for the Mets during a season in which they haven’t been able to rely on starting pitching. A California bill that would force tech companies such as Facebook and Google to pay publishers for news content has been put on hold in the Legislature until 2024.The California Journalism Competition and Preservation Act, sponsored by Assemblymember Buffy Wicks, D-Oakland, would direct digital advertising giants to pay news outlets a “journalism usage fee” when they sell advertising alongside news content. The bill would require publishers to invest 70% of those funds in preserving journalism jobs in California.The bill passed in the Assembly with bipartisan support June 1 and moved on to the state Senate.
