EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — The market devaluation of running backs across the NFL moved this summer from a trend to a bitter clash between the best players at this punishing position and the clubs unwilling to commit to them. The Minnesota Vikings recently stepped out of the contract conflict zone by releasing Dalvin Cook, his four consecutive Pro Bowls cast aside for salary cap savings. Alexander Mattison harbors none of the hard feelings that have become so prevalent across the league among his more accomplished peers. Being back with the Minnesota Vikings after briefly becoming a free agent, now promoted from reliable backup to unchallenged starter, has simply been “a blessing,” as the fifth-year player has often said this offseason.“It’s my job now to go out there and prove their decision right,” said Mattison, who signed a two-year, $7 million deal in March. “I’m extremely honored that they trust and believe in me.”The most recent time the Vikings played a season without a Pro Bowl run...Why monsoons can wreak so much havoc

DENVER (KDVR) -- Monsoon moisture has moved into the Denver metro this week. The storms can create sheets of rain and hail, which can turn streets into fast-moving streams of water.A historic monsoon 47 years ago in the Big Thompson Canyon dropped a year’s worth of rain in 70 minutes which caused devastating damage.Flooding caused by the rains killed 144 people and cost millions of dollars, marking the deadliest natural disaster in the state. Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Travis Michels said these storms carry water from the West Coast and dump it on Colorado.“A lot of moisture. A lot of slow-moving moisture which provides the flooding concerns that we do have as the storms just don’t pick up and move. They just sit and pour,” Michels said. Video: Lightning, hail and floods around metro Denver Monsoon clouds also tend to dissipate in one spot and then clump together in another and can create heavy downpours.“You’ll see one cell lose its energy, but the one south of it or north of...Multi-vehicle crash shuts down eastbound I-70 in Jefferson County

(CNN) — Fitch Ratings downgraded its US debt rating on Tuesday from the highest AAA rating to AA+, citing “a steady deterioration in standards of governance.”The downgrade comes after lawmakers negotiated up until the last minute on a debt ceiling deal earlier this year, risking the nation’s first default. But the January 6 insurrection was also a major contributing factor. In a meeting with Biden administration officials, representatives from Fitch Ratings repeatedly highlighted the January 6th insurrection as a significant concern as it relates to US governance, a person familiar with the matter told CNN. The credit agency did not mention the insurrection in their full report on the downgrade.Fitch did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment.US debt has long been considered the safest of safe havens, but Tuesday’s rating cut suggests it has lost some of its luster.
