First lawsuit filed in Northwestern hazing scandal COOK COUNTY, Ill.— The first major legal action has come in the wake of a major hazing scandal at Northwestern University. On Tuesday, a lawsuit was filed by a former player, who was with the team from 2018-2022, in Cook County Circuit Court "related to allegations of having and sexual abuse in the University's football program." It lists Northwestern University, former head coach Pat Fitzgerald, current president Michael Schill, former president Morton Shapiro and current athletic director Dr. Derrick Gragg as defendants.The "John Doe" in the case is being represented by attorneys Patrick A. Salvi II of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard in Chicago, Parker Stinar of the Stinar Law Firm in Denver, and Adam Pulaski of Pulaski Kherker in Houston. Treasure-seekers from Utah and beyond have been on an exciting journey across the state to locate the treasure. An Iowa woman, Chelsea Gotta, made three separate trips to search and nearly gave up before deciding to give it one last shot. VIDEO: Colorado bear stuck in dumpster COLORADO (KRQE) - Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials saved a bear cub trapped in a dumpster over the weekend.CPW said the cub climbed into the trash receptacle in a community south of Denver while searching for food. What is that string of lights over New Mexico’s night sky? Wildlife experts and Douglas County Sheriff's deputies placed a chain link fence inside so the bear could make its way out of the dumpster.After "clambering out," the cub ran off and was reunited with its mother. In its tweet, the CPW said, "Sometimes, we just need a little help from our friends."According to the CPW, Colorado black bears, which are typically active from mid-March to early November, need to consume 20,000 calories daily to be able to survive the winter months, when they abstain from eating and drinking during hibernation.

Amsterdam woman sentenced for identity theft and grand larceny FONDA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Amsterdam woman was sentenced to the maximum of two terms of 2-4 years in state prison to run concurrently. Jacquinn Tanner, 38, was convicted of grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, and identity theft. Tanner was caught on surveillance footage finding and using someone's debit card left in a credit card payment machine at Kennedy's Fried Chicken at the Riverfront Center in Amsterdam. Tanner also took a picture of the card and shared the photo with another individual. The second individual was convicted in Fulton County of stealing $1,300 from the account.Tanner's criminal history includes convictions for grand larceny and welfare fraud, in addition to six prior misdemeanor convictions. The case was prosecuted by Katherine White and First Assistant Christina Pearson.
