SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — In a Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony that included a few connections to the Chicagoland area, a native of the city provided one of its most memorable moments.Dwyane Wade, who was born in Chicago, grew up in Robbins, and played at Richards High School in Oak Lawn, was one of 12 members of the Class of 2023 enshrined on Saturday at the Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts. East Chicago native and Merrillville High School graduate Gregg Popovich along with former Bulls' forward Pau Gasol also took their place in the Hall of Fame this weekend.Wade, who was a 13-time All-Star and three-time NBA champion during his 16 seasons that included one with the Bulls, saluted a number of people in his life during his speech that went for about 26 minutes. AUSTIN (KXAN) – The Austin Fire Department said Sunday night crews contained a brush fire in south Austin to a half-acre in size. The fire was near Interstate 35 and Stassney Lane. AFD said the fire started in a homeless camp.No injuries were reported, AFD said. Camp contents and surrounding vegetation as damaged. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Esperance man pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography on Monday. John Hotaling, 62, was already on supervised release for the same crime, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ). According to the DOJ, Hotaling admitted to possessing child pornography in 2020, some images he created by photoshopping faces of children onto nude adult bodies engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Hotaling was on supervised release for a 2009 conviction for the same crime.The DOJ says he admitted to violating his terms and conditions of supervised release. MENDON, Vt. (NEWS10) -- Vermont State Police are investigating a fatal car crash that took place on US Route 4 at Craigs Lane in Mendon on Friday. After an investigation, police say a Volkswagen Vanagon was driving eastbound on US Route 4 in the travel lane. The car left the lane and struck a guardrail, according to police. The Volkswagen then crossed back into the travel lane where it collided with a second car in the passing lane. The Volkswagen then rolled onto its side, with both cars stopping in the eastbound lane. A possible homicide was reported in the Historic South-Central area of South Los Angeles Sunday afternoon.Officers were called to the 2200 block of Wall Street at about 1:15 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.A woman told officers that she entered her son's room due to a gas smell, and when she went inside she found what appeared to be a body.Police said they found a 20-year-old woman wrapped in plastic. Turns out Bob Myers won’t be sitting still for long. The long-time Warriors executive who stepped away from his post as general manager and president of basketball operations this summer has already figured out some of his plans for the upcoming NBA season. Myers will join ESPN’s NBA coverage for the 2023-24 season as a studio and game analyst, the network announced Monday morning along with several other sweeping changes to its NBA game and studio coverage plans. Myers’ duties have him as being part of the rotation of commentators on NBA Countdown. He will also call games during the regular season.The two-time NBA Executive of the Year couldn’t be immediately reached for comment. Myers, the architect of four championship teams, announced in May that he would be leaving the Warriors after 11 years and nine grueling playoff runs when his contract expired at the end of June.
