2023: The Resurgence of Anti-Semitism 110 years ago, in 1913, Mendel Beilis, a Jewish factory manager in Kyiv faced false accusations of murdering a Christian boy. The Beilis trial was one of the most high-profile cases of a blood libel against Jews — a prejudice that goes back to ancient times and has cost the lives of countless Jewish people. The trial was followed by a series of pogroms throughout the Russian Empire, which in turn triggered a wave of emigration of Jews from Russia. Today we are witnessing a disturbing revival of a centuries-old practice that has taken on more sophisticated forms. New footage of deadly mass shooting at Cook's Corner released by Sheriff's Department The Orange County Sheriff's Department has released new video, including body-worn camera footage, from the deadly mass shooting at Cook's Corner in Trabuco Canyon. Three people were killed and six others wounded when retired Ventura Police Sgt. John Snowling opened fire inside and outside the bar on Aug. 23. Snowling, who authorities say went to the bar to target his estranged wife, died in a gunbattle with Orange County sheriff’s deputies. Fairfield High student arrested for having Glock with extended magazine on campus (KRON) – A male student was arrested for possessing a weapon on campus on Wednesday, Oct. 4 by Fairfield School Resource Officers, police said.According to the Fairfield Police Department, a member of the Fairfield High administration informed police that while searching for a missing phone, a student was found in possession of a loaded firearm.  Alameda PD arrest suspect connected to bank robbery A loaded Glock pistol with an extended magazine was recovered by officers, police said.
