Man United wins after horror start, Arsenal draws after also conceding early in EPL LONDON (AP) — Manchester United suffered its worst-ever start to an English Premier League game and still managed to win. Arsenal gave away a goal after less than a minute and couldn’t quite pull off a similar comeback.United bounced back from conceding two goals in the opening four minutes to beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday and avoid an early inquest following a dispiriting loss at Tottenham last weekend. Arsenal also thought it turned the game around against Fulham when led 2-1 in the second half, only to concede an 87th-minute equalizer from a corner for a 2-2 draw at Emirates Stadium that ended the Gunners’ perfect start to the campaign. For United, it was the first time the club trailed by two goals after four minutes in the league, but captain Bruno Fernandes completed the comeback from the penalty spot in the 76th minute after Forest went down to 10 men. “Horror start,” United manager Erik ten Hag said. “But the character of the team w...

No more Confederate names for Army installations in Virginia after Fort Walker redesignation

Published Tue, 19 Nov 2024 09:20:03 GMT

No more Confederate names for Army installations in Virginia after Fort Walker redesignation The last military installation in Virginia named after a Confederate soldier has been officially renamed from Fort A.P. Hill to Fort Walker in honor of Doctor Mary E. Walker. The redesignation ceremony was held as the U.S. celebrates Women’s Equality Day. Major General Trevor Bredenkamp says Mary Walker served the Army with distinction.“The first woman surgeon in the United States Army, a prisoner of war and the only woman awarded the medal of honor,” Bredenkamp said. “What a fitting tribute that today we designate this installation Fort Walker, the only installation in the Army to be named solely for a woman.” Walker, who was a civilian, treated wounded Union soldiers at field hospitals throughout the Civil War, even though her application to be an official Army surgeon was denied because she was a woman.Bredenkamp said that Virginia has now renamed all of its military installations named for Confederate soldiers.Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. The 49ers’ heavy investment in Trey Lance backfires, but it hasn’t destroyed the franchise

The 49ers’ heavy investment in Trey Lance backfires, but it hasn’t destroyed the franchise SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Few teams have ever invested as much capital into acquiring as the San Francisco 49ers did when they traded three first-round picks to draft Trey Lance. And few teams have ever cut ties with a highly drafted quarterback as quickly as San Francisco did with Lance, trading him away for a pittance before the start of his third season.“Obviously we took our shot, and it didn’t work out,” coach Kyle Shanahan said. “So, that’s on us for that. But I’m not going to say anything is a failure. That’d be too much of a negative toward Trey. I get our deal. We took a shot to go for that. We were hoping that he could be our guy, and that didn’t work out.”A colossal miss of this nature could set back a franchise for years as the Niners traded away the 12th pick of the 2021 draft, first-round picks in 2022 and ’23 that ended up being 29th overall and a third-round pick to draft the untested Lance third overall in 2021.They then paid him about $28 million to make four...

Collins in 2015 and has expanded to 60 other cities across the country. "We’re very strong supporters of taking care of lives on both ends of the leash and that’s a huge part of who we are," Dr. Wheeler said. “We’re not here to make people feel sorry for animals that are living with people that are experiencing homelessness. We’re here to show them how important that bond is and it gets even deeper as animals get older."  Caught on camera: Amazon driver accused of stealing cat The group recently received a grant from the Grey Muzzle Org...
