Why do tires deflate in cold weather? It's physics

DENVER (KDVR) -- Tires naturally lose air pressure over time, but each year as the weather gets colder, tire pressure lights turn on and drivers everywhere begin to look for the nearest air compressor. For many motorists, this is the first sign that cold temperatures are coming and that they need to winterize their vehicles, according to AAA Regional Director Skyler McKinley. When should you switch to snow tires for the winter season? McKinley said the reason for this annual, widespread decrease in tire air pressure is just fundamental physics.Boyle's law is a gas law which McKinley summarized as the pressure of a gas at a volume is proportionate to temperature. It means that air pressure in a space will drop when it is cold, and increase when it is hot.Air molecules in tires bounce around. In the heat, there is more energy and those molecules bounce faster, resulting in higher air pressure. The opposite is true when the ambient temperature goes down."With a loss of temperature com...Golfer breaks Guinness World Record at Broomfield course

WOODBINE, Ga. (AP) — The family of a Black man fatally shot by a Georgia sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop viewed video of the roadside confrontation Wednesday, with siblings saying they believe their brother resisted arrest because of the 16 years he had previously spent being wrongfully imprisoned.Camden County Sheriff Jim Proctor’s office posted dash and body camera video online Wednesday of the stop that left 53-year-old Leonard Cure dead.Cure’s mother and siblings arrived at a Georgia Bureau of Investigation office with their attorney, civil rights lawyer Benjamin Crump, to view the video before its public release. They said it showed an aggressive deputy who could have done more to de-escalate the conflict with Cure.“He really should be alive,” said Michael Cure, one of the slain man’s older brothers. “The officer hit him with his baton and he tazed him, twice as a matter of fact. But he did not have to shoot him.”Just three years ago Cure was released f...Cauliflower Tandoori / Street Hibachi, Aventura

LONDON — U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will travel to Israel on Thursday after urging regional leaders to “avoid further dangerous escalation” in the Middle East conflict.Sunak will kick-off a two-day trip to the region meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog. Downing Street said the British prime minister is due to arrive in Israel early on Thursday morning, before traveling to a number of other regional capitals. U.K. Foreign Secretary James Cleverly will conduct his own diplomatic push to stop the conflict spreading across the region during a three-day visit to the region. He is due to meet leaders in Egypt, Turkey and Qatar, the Foreign Office said. The visits come in the wake of a devastating blast at al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza on Tuesday in which hundreds are feared to have died, and amid conflicting accusations about who was responsible for the attack.Hamas swiftly blamed the attack on an Israeli airstrike. The mother of a young bicyclist who was hit by a car in East Bridgewater said that her daughter, who was pushed at least 60 feet by the car, is okay. The crash happened Sunday night and was caught on security cameras. Police released the video to the public in hopes of locating the driver, who was wearing hospital scrubs when she briefly got out of the car then drove away.“The video was awful to see,” the victim’s mother said. “I just don’t understand what took so long for the vehicle to stop, and then to get out and not even apologize.”The victim’s mother shared images of the 11-year-old girl’s injuries, which are a scraped elbow and a bruised thigh.“She is definitely shaken up from the incident,” she said. “She was very scared thinking the driver wasn’t going to stop.”The police chief said the person at the wheel was trying to take a shortcut through the Central Elementary School parking lot. When she saw the gate to Route 18 was locked, she turned around and hit the 11...Grubhub delivery driver caught eating customer’s meal

LONG BEACH, California (KCAL) — Grubhub has fired a Long Beach delivery driver after he was caught eating a customer’s meal last week.“He took bite-fulls out of each plate that was in that order,” said Martin Luzanilla, the owner of “Mexihanas.”Luzanilla’s security camera captured the delivery driver chowing down in the restaurant’s parking lot, moments after he picked up the customer’s order. After noticing that the driver had not moved for several minutes and that his face was diving into a plate full of food, Luzanilla decided to confront the man.The driver told Luzanilla that he was munching on his own lunch. After, Luzanilla gave him a fist bump and walked away. However, when he checked the security camera footage Luzanilla confirmed his gut feeling.“I was mad. I was upset,” he said. “The safety of my customers is number one.”The GrubHub driver left and Luzanilla rushed to call the customer to tell them...This 1980s Domino’s delivery car looks like a spaceship, and you can buy it

(CNN) — The 1985 Domino’s Pizza delivery car looks more like it was designed to shoot down invading alien spacecraft than to bring you a hot delicious pepperoni pie. But back in the ’80s, Domino’s founder Tom Monaghan ordered 10 Tritan A2 cars and customized them with warming ovens in the back to deliver pizzas around Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Domino’s is headquartered.Just a few survive today. One of them is being offered for sale at a Las Vegas classic car auction on November 10. Even the car’s current owner admits, it’s pretty terrible to drive and probably wasn’t even that great at delivering pizza. But it does look awfully cool. The Tritan A2 was designed by engineers James Amick and his son Douglas. It’s similar to a series of other vehicles they designed with large arch-shaped rear wings. The wings were designed to capture crosswinds to help provide forward propulsion, like a sail, along with electric motors or gasoline engines. It’s unclear if this partic...Protesters hold demonstration at Harvard University in support of Palestinians in Gaza

Students gathered on the campus of Harvard University Wednesday to demonstrate in support of Palestinians living in Gaza as the war between Hamas and Israel rages on. SKY7-HD was over the scene as some students laid on the ground, holding a “die in” to protest the loss of life within Gaza. Later in the day, a different rally was underway around 4 p.m. at City Hall Plaza in Boston.Demonstrations came on the same day that President Joe Biden visited Israel to show his support. Biden’s visit, in turn, came as Israeli forces have started allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza all while the area recovers from a deadly blast on Tuesday at a Gaza hospital that killed hundreds of people. “Over the last week, I’ve had family members killed by the airstrikes and so, I think, especially yesterday was a hard day for me,” said one student at Harvard. As part of their demonstration, protesters headed over the Charles River and congregated at the Harvard Business School in Allston where Former Pr...Latest news
