(KRON) -- Police in Mountain View are looking for a man accused of inappropriately touching a teenage girl on a trail on Wednesday. The victim, a 17-year-old Palo Alto resident, was jogging on the Bay Trail around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday when the suspect approached her, according to the Mountain View Police Department.The suspect, a man walking a bicycle, approached the girl and asked if she spoke Spanish. He then asked her if she knew how to get back to a hotel but never said which hotel, police said. It was at that point that the man grabbed the girl, pulled her toward him and touched her inappropriately.The teen pushed the suspect away and ran away. (KRON) -- A man was arrested in connection to a series of retail thefts across the Bay Area, the Santa Clara Police Department announced Friday on social media. Approximately $139,000 worth of sunglasses were stolen. These major retailers in downtown SF have closed their doors for good The suspect was apprehended on June 20 at the Westfield Valley Fair Mall where he was caught stealing merchandise from Macy's, according to police. Most of the stolen merchandise was "high-end designer" sunglasses.Earlier that month, the same suspect stole $7,851 worth of sunglasses from the Macy's men's store. The aforementioned total amount was across two thefts one day apart, police said.Police said the suspect was involved in similar thefts across Macy's stores in counties such as Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and potentially Santa Cruz. (AP) — A package reshipping company targeted in a theft scheme by a former Delaware State Police trooper has filed a lawsuit against him and the police agency.TotalTransLogistics LLC said in a complaint filed this week in Superior Court that it is seeking to recover damages for harm caused by Jamal Merrell while he was employed as a trooper. The company also said the state police agency was liable because of “wanton and grossly negligent failure to supervise Merrell.”Merrell was sentenced in January to six months in federal prison after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor count of deprivation of rights under color of law. The offense involved Merrell using his law enforcement position to deprive someone else of a right or privilege. A man pleaded not guilty Friday in connection to charges that an elderly woman and her dog in his care lived in squalor for months, officials said.Seth Aguiar, 51, allegedly abused and neglected his elderly neighbor, stole $12,000 by using her debit cards and trapped her inside her home without running water and heat, the Plymouth County D.A. announced.Aguiar also did not fulfill her medical prescriptions and used her debit cards on fast food, sneakers, clothes and car services.The victim’s family asked for a well-being check in February, and Rochester police found her severely malnourished and hypothermic.
