(CNN) — That Google account you haven’t checked in years might be getting wiped this week.Beginning Friday, Google is moving ahead with its plan to delete accounts that have been inactive for at least two years. The company announced the new policy back in May, saying it’s intended to prevent security risks: Internal findings show older accounts are more likely to rely on recycled passwords and less likely to employ up-to-date security measures like two-step-verification, making them far more vulnerable to issues like phishing, hacking and spam.Google has been sending warnings to affected users since August, with multiple alerts sent to impacted accounts and user-provided backup emails. In a phased approach, the first accounts to be cut are those that were created and then never revisited by the user, Google said in May.“We want to protect your private information and prevent any unauthorized access to your account even if you’re no longer using our services,” Goog...Carolina Panthers fire head coach Frank Reich after 1-10 start to first season

The Ravens again flirted with disaster thanks to a disjointed offense and a shocking 44-yard miss from kicker Justin Tucker, but their defense came up with a pair of critical fourth-quarter stops to secure a road win over the high-scoring Chargers. Here are five things we learned from the 20-10 win. This was a win to ease but not erase doubtsWe felt the dread. How could we not after similar leads evaporated, after the Ravens failed to seize similar chances, in defeats to Indianapolis, Pittsburgh and Cleveland? How does a team almost never trail, yet keep its fan base in a state of near-constant anxiety? NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump’s company no longer prepares the sweeping financial statements that New York state contends were full of deceptive numbers for years, an executive testified Monday at the former president’s civil fraud trial. Trump’s 2014 to 2021 “statements of financial condition” are at the heart of state Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit against him, his company and some of its key figures. The defendants deny wrongdoing, but James says they misled lenders and insurers by giving them financial statements that greatly inflated Trump’s asset values and overall net worth. Nowadays, the Trump Organization continues to prepare various audits and other financial reports specific to some of its components, but “there is no roll-up financial statement of the company,” said Mark Hawthorn, the chief operating officer of the Trump Organization’s hotel arm. He wasn’t asked why the comprehensive reports had ceased but said they are “...Report says Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers used alternate email under name of Hall of Fame pitcher

The Oneg Shabbat archive was a secret project of Jewish prisoners in the Warsaw Ghetto to record their histories as they awaited deportation to Nazi death camps during World War II. Lauren Grodstein has used this historical fact as the basis for her mesmerizing new novel, “We Must Not Think of Ourselves.”It is narrated by a fictional schoolteacher, Adam Paskow, who conducts interviews for the real-life archives as he falls in love with a married woman, Sala Wiskoff, with whom he shares overcrowded quarters.Grodstein, who was inspired to write the book after a Jewish family heritage trip to Warsaw, where she first encountered the diary entries, propaganda posters and other materials that comprise the archives, excels at character development and naturalistic dialogue. In Adam, she has created an immensely appealing protagonist, notwithstanding his adulterous affair with Sala, who is equally charismatic. Before the war, Adam was living a quiet, bookish life in a prosperous neighborhood...Latest news
