NEW YORK (AP) — After a fiery first day of opening statements, lawyers in Donald Trump's business fraud trial in New York will move on Tuesday to the more plodding task of going through years of his financial documents in what's expected to be a weekslong fight over whether they constitute proof of fraud. An accountant who prepared Trump’s financial statements for years is expected to be back on the witness stand for a second day.Trump, who spent a full day Monday as an angry spectator at the civil trial, said he'll be back at the defense table.“See you in Court on Tuesday morning!” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. The trial is the culmination of a lawsuit in which New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, has accused the Republican former president of deceiving banks, insurers and others for years by giving them papers that misstated the value of his assets.Judge Arthur Engoron delivered an early victory to James last week, ruling that Trump committed fraud by ex...Phones, TVs and radios are set to alert nationwide tomorrow, here's why

(KDVR) — On Wednesday, Oct. 4, at approximately 12:20 p.m., two odd-sounding national alerts will go off on all TVs, radios and phones.Just remember: this is only a test. The messages are part of a nationwide test conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Communications Commission. The point of these alerts is to test out the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency System. When will we know if the government is shutting down? The alert will only last a minute on the radio, television broadcasts, cable systems, satellite radio, television providers and wireline video providers. The message will read:“This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, covering the United States from 14:20 to 14:50 hours ET. This is only a test. No action is required by the public."In an actual emergency, this system provides the president with the capability to address Americans within 10 minutes.Meanwhile, the ...Can’t get a car loan? Colorado abortion-rights advocates so far have succeeded in their efforts to ban a controversial experimental abortion reversal treatment, and now they’re looking ahead to next year’s ballot to further protect the right to an abortion in the state. The state’s Democratic legislative majorities have secured Colorado’s protection of abortion rights in law, but reproductive rights advocates want to cement it in the state constitution so it’s harder for future legislatures to change. The reason that prompted Colorado lawmakers to pass the 2022 abortion-rights law — the anticipated overturning of Roe v. Wade a few months later — is the same one that’s keeping hope alive among anti-abortion activists that they can reverse the tide, as more conservative states enact restrictions.Colorado’s advocacy groups have filed initial documents for a November 2024 ballot initiative aimed at codifying the right to abortion in the state constitution ...Denver has 3 of the best budget-friendly restaurants in the U.S.

As a crowd of onlookers gathered on a bike path along a nine-hole golf course in Estes Park on a brisk morning in late September, Rodney Ford peered through a magnifying scope attached to a tripod. He was focused on a magnificent bull elk that was sitting in the shade of pine trees on the ninth hole beside the Big Thompson River, surrounded by three dozen females that the herd bull was anxious to impregnate.Ford and his wife had driven from Shreveport, La., spending the night in a van parked nearby, to witness the annual drama of elk rutting season in one of Colorado’s favorite mountain towns.“I drove 16 hours just for this right here,” drawled Ford, who was situated about 100 yards from the herd. “We come here every year. This is what we do. We travel in that van, me and my wife; we go all over the United States looking at wildlife.”Fall was in the air, with scarcely a cloud in the sky, and fresh snow was visible high on the north face of Longs Peak.
