DENVER (KDVR) – A bear attacked a security guard inside the kitchen of an Aspen resort earlier this week, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) department confirmed.Officials with CPW were dispatched to the St. Regis Aspen Resort late on Monday night, after a security guard investigating reports of the bear surprised the animal inside the hotel's kitchen, according to CPW. The bear reportedly responded by attacking the guard, scratching his back and knocking him to the ground.The man was able to flee and call 911, CPW said in a news release. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and released early Tuesday.Wildlife officers later learned the bear "had entered the hotel through a series of doors near the courtyard" before finding the hotel's kitchen. MANHATTAN, N.Y. (WPIX) – A customer was freed from a safety deposit room in Manhattan's Diamond District on Wednesday morning after getting locked inside the night before, according to authorities in New York City.The 23-year-old man had been accessing his safety deposit box at a facility operated by DGA Securities on Tuesday night when an employee closed the vault without realizing a customer was still inside, Deputy Assistant Chief John Sarrocco of the FDNY told reporters Wednesday. The FDNY was notified of the incident at around 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Officials arrived and were able to communicate with the customer via a phone in the vault room, Chief Sarrocco said. AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police are searching for a man in connection with a theft at a north Austin jewelry store.Image of suspect from theft (APD photo)APD said the theft occurred Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. at Delitzel Jewelry, located at 917 W. Anderson Lane.Police said the suspect went into the jewelry store and asked about a gold chain. According to APD, as the store employee removed the gold chain from the jewelry case, the suspect grabbed it and ran out.APD described the suspect as a 5’5” or 5’6” Hispanic man between the ages of 16 and 17 with a thin build and weighing approximately 130 lbs.Police said the suspect had a goatee/mustache and short black hair. AUSTIN (KXAN) – The Austin City Council will consider purchasing the former Salvation Army Downtown Center at the Nov. 9 city council meeting to continue providing “critical” homeless services in the area, according to a memo. The former shelter is located downtown at Red River St and will cost the city just over $15 million if they decide to acquire the retail space, per the memo. FORT EDWARD, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Ford Edward man will serve ten years in state prison for criminal sexual act in the first degree. BETHALTO, Ill. -- The Madison County Sheriff’s Office confirms to FOX 2 that a missing man was found dead Tuesday. Jeremy Spears body was discovered near I-255 and Culp Lane. He had been missing since October 20th.The Madison County Sheriff's Office and the Madison County Coroner's Office are conducting a death investigation. Riverbender.com reports that the body was found at around 11 a.m. close to the highway near the woods.A search party was organized to help find the body.
