Austin ranks No. 1 on best US housing markets for growth, stability list AUSTIN (KXAN) — According to a new study, 12 of the top 20 U.S. cities that ranked as being the best housing markets for growth and stability were in Texas, and six Texas cities made the top 10.SmartAsset compared home value data for 400 metropolitan areas between 1998 and 2022 using data from the Federal Housing Administration and calculated cumulative increases during that time, as well as the frequency of significant drops in value to compile the list.“The Austin-Round Rock-Georgetown metro area ranks No. 1 overall, thanks in large part to home values that have skyrocketed in the last 25 years,” the study said. “Between 1998 and 2022, home prices increased by 353.92%, the most cumulative growth in our study, without much downside.”The nearly 354% increase was more than any other metro area in the nation, according to SmartAsset.According to information from the study, home prices were not the only thing growing.“The population has nearly doubled in the last 20 years, in part than...

Possible drowning in Stamford STAMFORD, N.Y (NEWS10)- Multiple agencies are on scene responding to a possible drowning that occurred near TheZone Boys Camp Saturday afternoon. The New York State Police said at approximately 3 p.m, crews were called to the area for a possible drowning. TheZone Jewish sleepaway camps are a division of Camp Oorah. The incident occurred on a public lake, and a spokesperson from Oorah says the boat the individuals were on was not owned or provided by TheZone. It is confirmed that two people were rescued after a canoe capsized, and one person is unaccounted for. The two people rescued were taken to Albany Medical Center and are in stable condition, according to police. The unaccounted-for person was last seen trying to swim to shore but has not been seen since. Search and Rescue personnel remain on scene along with members from the Schoharie County Sheriff's Office, Jefferson and Stamford fire, and rangers from the Department of Environmental Conservation.
