Inglewood Council OKs plan to relocate businesses ahead of new Metro connector Inglewood business owners expressed their concerns Tuesday about a planned Los Angeles Metro project that could displace dozens of companies. The project, called the Inglewood people mover or Inglewood Transit Connector, will add a 1.6-mile length of track that can bring travelers from Metro's K Line to the city, home to prominent attractions like SoFi Stadium. The tradeoff, however, is that 41 businesses will have to relocate to make space for new stations. More than 300 people work for those companies, according to the Daily Breeze. The Inglewood City Council unanimously approved a plan to move the businesses and provide relocation assistance, though some owners expressed some trepidation."The idea that we're going to get all these people who are going to ride the train and come for 1.6 miles is something I'm still questioning," one public speaker said. Daktyl and Benni Ola Enter the Matrix Daktyl and Benni Ola Enter the Matrix: Production wiz and multi-instrumentalist Daktyl has collaborated with Californian spoken word poet and songwriter Benni Ola on a new project, the first fruit of which is the new “Matrix” single. It’s a pulsating, hypnotic tune — the two men blending their styles seamlessly.“I started producing when I was at uni, my brother gave me an old copy of reason and I was immediately hooked,” says Daktyl.“For a long time I never considered myself a producer,” adds Ola. “It felt like this big title and responsibility I was afraid of. It’s only recently I’ve decided to allow space for it, initially starting with vocal production and then taking up percussive instruments. I’ve played bongos since I was a teen and now I’m leaning into something I’ve always known.”Both artists struggle to define their current sound.“I’m terrible at answering this question, I always just say electronic mus...

Saratoga waives tree removal fees after eucalyptuses do $250,000 in storm damage Saratoga residents will not have to pay the city to cut down blue gum eucalyptus trees for the next 2-1/2 months. The trees did about $250,000 in reported damage during last month’s storms.Saratoga City Council voted April 5 to waive the $130 fee for blue gum eucalyptus tree removal through June 30 in the wake of the storm damage they caused to public and private property. Blue gum eucalyptus trees, which came to California from Australia, have shallow roots, and studies show they are more prone to falling. The city, which has fairly strict protections in place for its trees, will still require applicants to replace any they remove. Council added the requirement after a couple residents voiced concern that replacement of the removed trees wasn’t guaranteed under the initial draft of the urgency ordinance pausing the permit fees.RELATED: Why are so many Bay Area trees turning destructive and deadly in recent storms? The answer is years in the making“The city’s incurred con...

In 2020, the SCU Lightning Complex Fire burned 396,624 acres — the third-largest wildfire in California history — and came dangerously close to enveloping the more tha...
