SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — Hikers found human remains Saturday in a Southern California mountain area where actor Julian Sands disappeared five months ago, authorities said. The body discovered around 10 a.m. in wilderness near Mount Baldy was transported to the coroner’s office for identification next week, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. Additional details were not immediately available. Sands, an avid hiker and mountaineer, was reported missing January 13 after setting out on the peak that rises more than 10,000 feet (3,048 meters) east of Los Angeles. Human remains were discovered by hikers on Mount Baldy on Saturday morning.At around 10 a.m., hikers contacted the Fontana Sheriff’s Station after coming across the remains in the Mt. Baldy Wilderness Area.Deputies along with the sheriff’s Emergency Operations Division responded to the scene.The remains were transported to the coroner’s office where officials are working to identify the body. Authorities said positive identification is expected next week. No further details were released.Back in January, search efforts were underway when two hikers went missing in Mt. MONTREAL (AP) — Dahrran Diedrick, the Canadian running back who starred at Nebraska and won three Grey Cup titles in a 10-year Canadian Football League career, died Saturday after fighting cancer. He was 44.The Montreal Alouettes, the team Diedrick helped win two Grey Cups, confirmed the death through his family. DENVER (KDVR) -- Colorado State Patrol Limon said a vehicle was discovered upside down in a sinkhole on Saturday afternoon.Trooper Brett Corbin responded to Weld County Road 2 in Brighton after a local resident called 911 about the vehicle being in the sinkhole.
