EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Football coach Mel Tucker has been suspended without pay, Michigan State Director of Athletics Alan Haller announced in a Sunday evening press conference. The suspension comes in the wake of sexual harassment allegations against the MSU coach.According to CBS Sports, the university is investigating allegations that date back to a complaint filed in December 2022 by Brenda Tracy, a prominent rape survivor and activist against sexual violence. In the complaint, Tracy alleges Tucker made sexually suggestive comments and masturbated while she “sat frozen for several minutes” during a phone call on April 28, 2022. Tracy visited MSU at least three times as an activist starting in 2021 — including one in which she was recognized as an honorary captain at a Michigan State spring football game — and built a relationship with Tucker as part of her work on campus.Tracy also alleges numerous other inappropriate incidents.“The idea that someone could know me and ...Texas Republicans weigh in on Paxton impeachment after week one of trial

AUSTIN (Nexstar) — Republicans from Texas are weighing in on the evidence outlined during the first week of suspended Attorney General Ken Paxton's impeachment trial, with a range of opinions on the allegations. In Washington, D.C. Thursday, Senator John Cornyn, R-Texas, expressed grave concern for what he heard during the trial, telling a group of reporters he has been listening to proceedings when he can and that it has been "painful to watch.""It's deeply disturbing — the allegations that are made, some of the evidence," he said. Cornyn implied that the trial is warranted based on the facts of the case thus far, drawing contrast to the federal House impeachments of former President Donald Trump."Having been a veteran of two impeachment trials myself here recently, it's a unique process, but I think it's unfolding the way it should," he said. "I think the lieutenant governor has done a good job, making sure that it's not an overly politicized process and that Attorney General ...Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson didn’t sign a contract extension. Now what?

The unofficial deadline for the Vikings passed with Sunday’s season opener at U.S. Bank Stadium. Unable to come to an agreement on a historic deal, the Vikings and star receiver Justin Jefferson will now presumably table any contract negotiations until the end of this season.“It is what it is,” Jefferson said. “I’m ready to focus on the season. That was clear as Jefferson was able to compartmentalize his frustrations and make nine catches for 150 yards for the Vikings in their 20-17 loss to the Buccaneers.“At the end of the day, all I can do is play football, and that’s what I’ll continue to do,” Jefferson said. “Just want to be here for my teammates and play for my teammates.”Though he has been humble throughout the process, consistently emphasizing that everything would work itself out eventually, Jefferson seemed to advocate for himself this week when asked about his contract extension.“I’ve done something that no one has ever ...Truck collides with sedan on Halls Ferry Road, 1 man dead

Here are the heroes and zeros from the Broncos’ 17-16 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon.HeroesBroncos run game: Running back Javonte Williams might become a case study. For a player who tore his ACL a year ago, he didn’t miss a beat. Williams carried the ball 13 times for 52 yards, including an 11-yard gain in the first half. Samaje Perine, whom Denver signed in the offseason, was even more effective with 78 total yards and a 20-yard reception in the final seconds of the third. Offense — B-It didn’t take long at all in the 2023 season for Russell Wilson to get cookin’. In fact, he completed 17 of 19 throws for 125 yards and a pair of first-half touchdowns for the Broncos on Sunday against Las Vegas. While he and Denver didn’t pile up yardage, Wilson played efficiently, completed passes to 11 different receivers and looked in command of head coach Sean Payton’s offense. Raiders star Maxx Crosby made an impact, but Denver chipped and helped enough to limit him to one sack. The run game didn’t get going until the second half, though Javonte Williams looked fast and powerful in his return from a major knee injury last year. Denver, though, went three-and-out after Las Vegas took a 17-16 lead, and at the end of the day put only 16 on the board. That’s not going to win many games.Defense — C-This unit expects to be one of the NFL’s elite groups under Vance Joseph. Instant reaction from the Broncos’ 17-16 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Sean Payton’s head coaching debut at Empower Field at Mile High.Opening moments: It began with former Broncos receiver Mark Jackson imploring the fans with a Bud Light tallboy. It built with former Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe towel-waving them into a lather. And it hit a crescendo with the Broncos recovering an onside kick … almost. So, head coach Sean Payton’s first act of the preseason was to bash anyone and everyone who had a parking space at Dove Valley last year. And his first act of the regular season was to do a call-back to perhaps his greatest call (surprise Super Bowl onside) at his last stop. Say this for Payton, he sure knows how to make an introduction.Related ArticlesDenver Broncos | Raiders 17, Broncos 16: Vegas retakes lead on Jimmy Garoppolo’s TD pass to Jakobi Meyers Denver Broncos | Broncos Super Bowl LVIII odds entering 2023 NFL...Latest news
