MIAMI (AP) — Lionel Messi has pulled off his latest stunning feat: He is headed to Major League Soccer, and joining Inter Miami. After months — years, even — of speculation, Messi finally revealed his decision to join a Miami franchise that has been led by another global soccer icon, David Beckham, since its inception but has yet to make any real splashes on the field. That likely will soon change. One of Inter Miami’s owners, Jorge Mas, tweeted out a photo of a darkly silhouetted Messi jersey shortly before the Argentinian great revealed his decision in interviews with Spanish news outlets Mundo Deportivo and Sport. It was widely believed that Messi eventually would choose to play for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, following longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo to a nation where some clubs now are funded by the state’s sovereign wealth fund. Going back to Barcelona, a storied franchise where he spent most of his career, was another possibility. But in the end, he made the call that surprised ma...Biden, DeSantis to visit Northern California June 19 in political cosmic collision

It almost surely wasn’t planned this way. But President Joe Biden and one of his top potential Republican rivals for re-election next year, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, will both descend upon Northern California June 19.The White House, which announced the Democratic president’s visit to an undisclosed Bay Area location Tuesday afternoon, said nothing more about his trip to the Golden State through June 21, saying only that additional details will follow. But the presidential visit comes the same day GOP supporters will host DeSantis for a $3,300-a-head breakfast in Sacramento. That’s where DeSantis just made news sending 36 Latin American migrants from Texas to California’s capital, where Democratic leaders have proclaimed the state a sanctuary for undocumented border crossers, and now suggest the Florida governor is a kidnapper.“I’d be surprised if either one intentionally designed their trips to coincide with each other,” said Larry Gerston,...India train collision photos: 83 bodies recovered still unidentified
