Kaiser Permanente workers in Colorado authorize potential strike after contract expires Sept. 30 A union representing about 3,000 employees of Kaiser Permanente Colorado voted this week to authorize up to a two-week strike, meaning they could walk out after their contract expires on Sept. 30.Services Employees International Union Local 105 estimated Friday evening that about 99% of its members who voted were in favor of authorizing the strike.“Going on strike is the last thing we want to do,” said Patricia Johnson Gibson, vice president of health care at SEIU Local 105 and a 25-year Kaiser employee. “But we have been pushed to the brink. We’re fighting for liveable wages, safer staffing levels and, most importantly, patient care. Body surfing a little bit.”But …“After the beach is brutal, because it gets all salty and dried out,” the Broncos’ second-year tight end continued. “You’ve gotta shampoo and condition double. It’s a tough time.”Just as Dulcich devoted all that ...

Santa Clara grocery worker thwarts shoplifters in scary encounter, highlighting retail safety concern SANTA CLARA — Police discourage retail workers from confronting shoplifters, but a Grocery Outlet employee on Thursday decided to photograph the license plate of thieves fleeing with $590 worth of energy drinks. Her reward: The bandits nearly ran her over. The employee, described as a quiet woman, took Friday off from work because she was “shaken up,” said store manager CeCe Ruiz.
