For those who choose to attend college, deciding on where to study—and which field of study to pursue—can be impactful. Each year, about 3 million undergraduate degrees are granted and 2 million of them are bachelor's degrees. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the top three degree programs for the period 2009-2010 through 2019-2020 were business, health programs, and social sciences/history, with psychology, biological/biomedical sciences, and engineering not far behind.Wage variation among fields can vary to an astounding degree. As reported by Stacker in March 2023, "On a national level, those who study nuclear engineering technologies or become technicians in that field have the highest median earnings three years after graduation at $107,804, followed by the fields of biomathematics, bioinformatics, and computational biology ($98,074)." This same report showed that, in some states, graduates in various liberal arts fields—such as English literature, musi...Fuel tanker crash shuts down Colorado Highway 71 from Limon to Last Chance

Video taken early Saturday morning showed a dangerous stunt by an unidentified daredevil in Santa Ana.The video, which was purportedly taken by a security guard and shared with a local news company, shows a person standing atop a high-rise building in Santa Ana, jumping off the ledge and immediately deploying a parachute. The jumper can be seen floating away off screen, apparently landings in a nearby parking lot and getting away without any injury. It happened around 1 a.m. at an apartment building at 15 MacArthur Place, which is identified on Google maps as the Essex Skyline apartments. The person who recorded the video told County News that emergency services were not called out to the scene as it appeared the jumper was uninjured. It's unclear if the building has been the site of other base jumping activities, although many California landmarks have been known to attract other thrillseekers, including the Golden Gate Bridge and Yosemite National Park. CINCINNATI (AP) — The New York Yankees cut struggling outfielder Aaron Hicks before Saturday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds.Hicks was designated for assignment to make room for outfielder Greg Allen, who was acquired in a trade with Boston on Friday. The 33-year-old Hicks is batting .188 with a homer and five RBIs in 28 games this season. He agreed to a $70 million, seven-year contract with New York in February 2019.Hicks broke into the majors with Minnesota in 2013. He was traded to New York in November 2015. He is a .230 hitter with 101 homers and 356 RBIs in 898 career games.Yankees manager Aaron Boone described his talk with Hicks as “quiet” and “somber.”“This is family,” Boone said. “You go through everything with these guys. Obviously, with Aaron, some ups and downs. He’s had some really good seasons. It wasn’t an easy conversation to have, but one we felt was necessary.”The Yankees traded minor league right-hander Diego Hernández and cash considerations to the Red So...Man City wins English Premier League after Arsenal loses at Nottingham Forest

NOTTINGHAM, England (AP) — Arsenal’s end-of-season collapse is complete. Manchester City is the English Premier League champion once again.A 1-0 loss at Nottingham Forest capped a stunning implosion by Arsenal in a title race that came to an end on Saturday, with City holding an unassailable four-point lead and champion for a third straight year.It is City’s seventh league crown in a 12-year period during which the Abu Dhabi-owned club has changed the face of the English game with its wealth and dominance under Pep Guardiola.City’s latest title is the fifth in Guardiola’s seven years at the club and owes as much to its end-of-season streak of 11 straight victories as it does to a meltdown by Arsenal, just when a first league title since 2004 was in sight.Arsenal led by eight points on April 1 but has since won only two of eight games.A win at the City Ground likely would have delayed the inevitable but Taiwo Awoniyi’s 19th-minute goal brought an end to the ti...NASCAR drivers facing unfamiliar venue with All-Star race at North Wilkesboro Speedway

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. (AP) — William Byron has driven past North Wilkesboro Speedway on his way to the Blue Ridge Mountains. So has Brad Keselowski and many other North Carolina-based NACAR drivers.Like most, they’d never been inside the track before this week. And none of the drivers on the NASCAR circuit have raced a Cup Series car here. That should make the All-Star race on Sunday night at the restored .625-mile track all the more interesting — and unpredictable — when 24 drivers vie for a $1 million first-place prize at the refurbished track.“I’m not gonna speculate on what type of racing that we’re gonna see,” Kevin Harvick said. ”… When you start speculating on something that’s never happened, you’re just asking for nothing but trouble. It’s going to be fun, but I don’t know what that means as far as how the race is going to be.”The last time the track hosted a Cup Series race was in 1996 when Jeff Gordon won.It has sat mostly dormant and unused for the better part...PGA Live Updates | Co-leaders Scheffler, Hovland and Conners tee off at soggy PGA

PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) — Scottie Scheffler, Corey Conners and Viktor Hovland, the co-leaders of the PGA Championship, have teed off in the third round at Oak Hill.A persistent rain that soaked the East Course has prevented the rest of the field from gaining much if any ground on Scheffler, Conners and Hovland, who began the day at 5 under. They have a two-shot lead on Bryson DeChambeau, with a group of four players next at 2 under. The second round closed with only nine players under par. When the twosome teed off, there were only 10 at 1 under or better.Rory McIlroy and Adam Svensson each opened with a pair of birdies on their first five holes to move to 2 under. Justin Rose, meantime, fell back to even for the tournament with a bogey 5 on two.Course officials have at times had to squeegee puddles of water that gathered on several fairways.___The third round of the PGA Championship is underway at soggy Oak Hill, where wet conditions await a trio of co-leaders when they tee off later S...El Manchester City logra el título de la Premier League tras otra derrota del Arsenal

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Dallas coach Pete DeBoer said he doesn’t want his team to make a habit of being in this situation, but the Stars have shown an amazing ability during the NHL playoffs to respond to early adversity.Including Friday night’s 4-3 defeat to the Vegas Golden Knights, the Stars have opened all three playoff series with an overtime loss. They came back to beat Minnesota in six games in the first round and then survived a seven-game endurance test to eliminate Seattle. And now the Stars are down 1-0 to the team that put together the Western Conference’s best regular-season record.“The good news is the other two ended the right way, so that’s what we hope for,” DeBoer said. “But you’ve got to win some overtime games, too, in the playoffs. You can’t go 0-for-3 or 0-for-4 in the playoffs in overtime, so that’s something that we’ve got to get fixed quickly.”Jason Robertson, who had a goal and an assist in the opener against the Knights, said being able to ...Latest news
