(KRON) -- A man who was pulled over for vehicle code violations on Christmas Eve in Richmond attempted to flee from police officers on foot before being placed under arrest, according to the Richmond Police Department.The traffic stop took place at around 9 p.m. on Dec. 24 in the 700 block of 23rd Street. The driver of the stopped vehicle “immediately exited” the car and “refused to follow officers’ directions,” police said, before taking off on foot. (KRON) -- The California Highway Patrol ran a Maximum Enforcement Period over the past holiday weekend in an effort to address the main factors of collisions, including speeding and driving under the influence. The CHP San Jose division issued the highest number of citations, according to the agency.The Christmas 2023 Maximum Enforcement Period in San Jose resulted in 314 citations being issued, CHP said, and 223 verbal warnings. The citations were issued for speeding, distracted driving and other forms of reckless driving. A woman is dead after being struck by two vehicles while crossing a street Tuesday night in Rockville, Maryland.Rockville City Police and Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded to reports of a crash in the area of Veirs Mill Road and Atlantic Avenue around 6:50 p.m., authorities said.A preliminary investigation revealed the woman was crossing Veirs Mill Road at Atlantic Avenue when she got hit by two vehicles coming eastbound, according to police.
