Buckingham Palace’s Coronation Quiche recipe

Buckingham Palace’s Coronation Quiche recipe News broke this week that Coronation Chicken has been dethroned, replaced by Coronation Quiche as King Charles’ entree of choice. The curry-tinged chicken salad was served at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation luncheon in 1953, and it’s still extremely popular. But the coronation recipe released by Buckingham Palace — complete with social media campaign, videos, Prue Leith sightings and much hashtagging — is a royal-approved, veg-forward tart filled with spinach, broad beans and fresh tarragon.Like all House of Windsor decisions, this one is already stirring controversy, which seems a bit much. But so far, the criticisms include: That’s too much tarragon. Broad beans are a pain to peel. Tarragon — seriously? The pastry has lard! No tarragon!! And this is not a quiche, it’s spinach pie. Here’s the recipe, courtesy of Buckingham Palace, which describes it as “a deep quiche with a crisp, light pastry case and delicate flavours of s...

At Home: 9 tips for staging a small condo to sell My youngest daughter has called Nashville home for five years. When Marissa moved there for grad school, my husband and I helped by buying a small, one-bedroom condo near campus. Now she’s ready to move on. And you know what that means: Call the broker and spiff up the place.I called Suzanne McMillan, the Fridrich & Clark Realty broker who sold us the property in 2018. She revisited the 620-square-foot condo, which is on the ground floor of a 70-year-old building. We’d painted the dingy beige walls a cool white (Sherwin-Williams Alabaster), added recessed can lights and refreshed the window treatments.“Although the rules for staging a 600-square-foot condo to sell aren’t much different from those for a larger home, in some ways they matter more,” she said when we got on the phone to strategize. “A small place gives no grace. Every inch must pull its weight.”Although the condo was already in a desirable neighborhood close to campus, we still wanted to give the place its best shot...

Oklahoma Court: We Want Richard Glossip Dead and Evidence Be Damned

Oklahoma Court: We Want Richard Glossip Dead and Evidence Be Damned Two weeks after Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond asked the Court of Criminal Appeals to vacate Richard Glossip’s conviction, the court rejected Drummond’s request, clearing the way for Glossip’s execution on May 18.“This court has thoroughly examined Glossip’s case from the initial direct appeal to this date,” the court’s five justices wrote. “Glossip has exhausted every avenue and we have found no legal or factual ground which would require relief in this case.”The court’s move is a rebuke not only to the attorney general, who ordered a review of Glossip’s case earlier this year, but also to dozens of conservative Oklahoma legislators who have been fighting to stop Glossip’s execution over fears the state would kill an innocent man. The independent counsel who reviewed the case concluded that Glossip should receive a new trial — and that pushing for his execution did not “serve the interests of justice.”Glossip was sentenced to death for the 1997 murder of Barry Van Trees...

Raiders have plenty of options at draft with No. 7 pick

Raiders have plenty of options at draft with No. 7 pick HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — What the Las Vegas Raiders do with their No. 7 overall pick in the draft is quite the mystery, and arguments could be made for any number of options. They could trade up to draft a quarterback, trade down to meet multiple needs throughout their roster or stand pat and snag a player who will potentially make an immediate impact.“What we’ve tried to do is put ourselves in a position so we can actually draft the best player that we feel like is available at the time, and we’re open to anything,” coach Josh McDaniels said. “If that happened to be a quarterback, then it’s a quarterback. If it happened to be a defensive lineman, it’s a defensive lineman. If it happened to be a tight end, it’s a tight end.”The Raiders have room to maneuver because they own five of the top 109 selections and 12 overall, meaning they can potentially stock their roster even without trades. But they also have enough picks to orchestrate a deal if they see an opportunity.Considering ...
