Mac Jones benched again for Bailey Zappe in 10-6 loss to Colts in Germany FRANKFURT, Germany — Mac Jones arrived in a new country with a playful, jovial attitude. He might be leaving Germany without his starting job guaranteed.Jones threw one of his worst interceptions of the season while trailing 10-6 with the ball inside the red zone on the Colts’ 15-yard line. His pass to tight end Mike Gesicki was embarrassingly short of the intended target and caught by a falling Colts safety Julian Blackmon for the pick. The Colts drained nearly two-and-a-half minutes off of the clock before punting back to the Patriots, who inserted Bailey Zappe at quarterback. It was the first time Jones was benched this season without the game out of hand.Zappe entered the game and went 26 yards on seven plays before tossing his own game-clinching interception. The Colts kneeled on the ball for the 10-6 win.The Patriots are left without an obvious starter at quarterback over the final seven games of the season. The Patriots’ offense looked jet-lagged after traversing the Atla...

Montreal Jewish school hit by gunshots for second time in three days, police say Montreal politicians are condemning what seems to be the latest violent event in the city in connection with the war between Israel and Hamas.Mayor Valérie Plante says police are investigating after a Jewish school was hit by gunshots, one of two schools that were also targetted in overnight shootings just three days ago.The incident at the Yeshiva Gedola school appears to be the latest in a string of hateful acts in the city, with Montreal police investigating two firebombings earlier this week that caused minor damage to a synagogue and an office belonging to Jewish advocacy group Federation CJA.Plante called the latest event odious and says the city will not accept such violence, while MP Marc Miller, who represents a downtown Montreal riding, deemed the shooting cowardly.Police say emergency services received several calls at around 5 a.m. after gunshots were heard in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood.Michael Mostyn, who heads advocacy group B’nai Brith Canada, says the inc...

Algerian president names a new prime minister ahead of elections next year ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) — Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Saturday dismissed the country’s prime minister and replaced him with the head of his cabinet as the country struggles with inflation and next year’s national elections approach. The state news agency said in a statement Saturday that, after more than two years in office, Aimene Benabderahmne would be replaced with 73-year-old lawyer Mohamed Labaoui, a Tebboune ally who has headed the president’s cabinet since March.Benabderahmne’s sacking comes three years into Tebboune’s tenure and is the latest upheaval to shape North African politics. In August, Tunisia’s president dismissed his prime minister, while the head of Algeria’s powerful state-run oil company and eight of his vice presidents were dismissed several weeks ago. For Tebboune, the changing of the guard takes place at a time of economic anxiety and ahead of next year’s presidential elections. In December 2024, Te...

New Texas DEI law closes campus LGBTQ+ centers. Here's the student impact AUSTIN (KXAN) — After Chloe Wilkinson came out four years ago, she left college to focus on her gender transition. Now, she recently enrolled at Austin Community College, or ACC, to continue her education. From bathroom bills to trans health care, how Texas lawmakers shifted LGBTQ+ focus since 2015 "I needed that time when I initially came out to get the experience and understand what I wanted out of life," Wilkinson said. "The college I went to originally, it didn't have an LGBT or Pride Center exclusively. The Women's Center did a lot of that stuff, since (a LGBTQ+ center) was not there in any capacity."While ACC does not have a LGBTQ+ center, Wilkinson's plan is to earn her associate's degree there before enrolling at the University of Texas in Austin. Sen. Brandon Creighton (Courtesy Texas Senate) "A lot of the resources (at UT Austin) are probably even more extensive than here at ACC. What I'm worried about is that a lot of those resources won't ...
