East Bay man killed in single-vehicle collision in Fairfield Fairfield police continue to investigate a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred Friday morrning in the eastern sector of the city.According to information from a department social media page, officers discovered a pickup truck off the road near Cement Hill Road and west of Peabody Road.The truck’s driver, a 44-year-old man from Oakland, appeared to have been ejected from the vehicle and was killed.A Reporter request on Saturday for the identity of the victim, if next of kin had been notified, went unanswered by the Fairfield Police Department’s public information officer.No other vehicle or driver was involved in the collision, and initial evidence suggested the collision occurred a night. US regulators investigate GM’s Cruise division over incidents involving pedestrians in roadways U.S. regulators are investigating General Motors’ Cruise autonomous vehicle division after receiving reports of incidents where vehicles may not have used proper caution around pedestrians in roadways.The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the reports involve automated driving system equipped vehicles encroaching on pedestrians present in or entering roadways, including crosswalks. This could raise the risk of a vehicle striking a pedestrian, which could result in severe injury or death, according to the NHTSA.
