It's a girl! First baby rhino born at Safari West in Santa Rosa SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KRON) -- A 100-pound white rhino calf was born in Santa Rosa on Sunday evening, and she's the first calf born on the premises at Safari West, the park announced in a press release. Wild parrots could become San Francisco's official animal SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The wild parrots of Telegraph Hill are not shy about making their presence known. On any given day, a flock of the noisy, colorful birds can be seen flying over different parts of San Francisco. Two county supervisors say the parrots deserve a fancy title, as the city's official animal. More than 27,000 voted in the San Francisco Chronicle's poll asking which species deserves the title. Parrots won over sea lions by a slim margin.Wild parrots originally came to the city as exotic pets decades ago. There are reportedly between 200-300 wild parrots living in San Francisco today.County Supervisor Myrna Melgar wrote on Twitter Monday, "There you have it. San Franciscans voted. Hogback Fire now 100% contained JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Hogback Fire which burned through roughly 1,518 acres of land has been 100% contained according to West Metro Fire Rescue.The fire sparked on March 31 just off Interstate 70 in the afternoon and was burning along the hogback just north of Morrison. The fire was close enough to Red Rocks Amphitheatre for the venue to postpone the show headlined by Dabin scheduled for that evening.However, that was not the only fire in the state. A brush fire in Aurora north of Parker Road and Chambers Road caused an evacuation from the Pioneer Hills neighborhood. Crews put out fire at townhouse complex in Sunrise affecting 4 homes A fire broke out at a South Florida townhouse complex.Sunrise Fire Rescue crews arrived at the complex at 10725 NW 30th Place, Monday afternoon. According to fire rescue, it was a two-alarm fire and four connected townhouses were involved.7Skyforce hovered over the scene where smoke was seen coming from the roof of one of the homes. Residents in the area told 7News they heard two explosions and the power went out. “We heard a big noise,” said a child whose family lives next door, “and then we heard another bog noise, and people yelling, ‘Come on! Come on!'”Lauderhill Fire Rescue was also at the scene. All residents at the home were evacuated and accounted for.
