PARIS (AP) — Four days after getting disqualified from a smaller tournament for smashing his racket against the umpire’s chair during a match, Swedish tennis player Mikael Ymer was back in competition at the French Open on Sunday, bowing out in the first round.Ymer’s exit this time was far more conventional and far less dramatic: Quite simply, he was outplayed over three sets by No. 17 seed Lorenzo Musetti of Italy and lost 7-5, 6-2, 6-4 on Court 7 at Roland Garros. Was it tough for the 56th-ranked Ymer to set aside what happened at the Lyon Open on Wednesday, when he was defaulted from the contest against French teenager Arthur Fils for an outburst late in the first set?“It’s a Grand Slam, so I have to stay present. Stay in the moment,” Ymer said in a brief interview with The Associated Press. “I cannot do anything about the past.”Ymer, who is 24 and owns a victory over current No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, was angered while playing Fils that the chair umpire would not check a l...Lampard signs off interim spell in charge of 12th-place Chelsea with 1-1 draw with Newcastle

LONDON (AP) — Frank Lampard signed off as Chelsea manager with a 1-1 draw against Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday, leaving him without a home win during his underwhelming interim tenure. It took Kieran Trippier’s own-goal at Stamford Bridge to cancel out Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon’s early strike and spare Lampard the ignominy of a ninth defeat in his 11 games in charge.Newcastle had already sealed its objective and qualified for the Champions League, but the draw dropped the visitors to fourth place below Manchester United. Somewhat embarrassingly, Chelsea finished in 12th place. At the end of an awful season for Chelsea, there were at last flashes of a brighter future with Noni Madueke, Lewis Hall and substitute Carney Chukwuemeka — none of them older than 21 — the outstanding trio.Newcastle started the brighter, with Allan Saint-Maximin running at Trevoh Chalobah and slipping the ball through to Aleksander Isak, whose low shot was well blocked by the legs of Kep...Police: 1 fatally shot inside Navy Yard Metro station

DENVER (KDVR) -- Local wine and liquor stores say their sales are down and they're feeling the impact of Proposition 125.The bill, which went into effect in early March, allowed for grocery stores to sell wine. And since, liquor stores have been feeling the effects, similar to when full-strength beer was first allowed in grocery stores in Colorado.Joy's Wine and Spirits owner Carolyn Joy believes voters only thought of convenience, but not how much it would impact the independently owned liquor and wine stores. The liquor store has been in her family since 1963 and she said they've never seen a hit like this. Grocery, convenience stores prepare to sell wine on March 1 "The majority of our business is wine and so the impact of this is greater than any other event since I’ve been here," she said. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set for another five years as Turkey’s president after winning a divisive election that at one point seemed to threaten his hold on power. The 69-year-old, who has dominated his country’s politics for two decades, was on track to win the runoff vote by 52 percent to 48 percent, with more than 99 percent of ballot boxes counted, beating opposition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, according to preliminary official results from Turkey’s Supreme Election Council. In the first round of voting on May 14, the president also came out on top, defying the polls, but fell short of an outright majority, which triggered the runoff vote. Erdoğan declared victory in front of his residence in Istanbul, singing his campaign song before his speech. “I thank our nation, which gave us the responsibility of governing again for the next five years,” he said. “We have opened the door of Turkey’s century without compromising our democracy, development and our obje...Yankees score 7 runs off Yu Darvish in third inning leading to 10-7 victory over Padres

They say not to mess with Texas. But teams from the state should learn not to mess with Kyle Bradish. The Orioles’ second-year right-hander continued his dominance against teams from the Lone Star State in Sunday’s 3-2 victory against the Texas Rangers as Baltimore avoided being on the wrong side of a sweep for the first time this season.Bradish pitched into the seventh inning, allowing one run to baseball’s best offense, but Corey Seager’s double off Yennier Cano tied the game in the eighth before Austin Hays’ third hit in front of an announced afternoon crowd of 25,124 drove in the game-winning run in the frame’s bottom half. The result pushed the Orioles (34-19) back ahead of Texas (33-19) for the majors’ second-best record, trailing only the Tampa Bay Rays. It also assured Baltimore a winning record in a May slate that featured 22 straight games against teams above .500.In five career starts against the Rangers and the Houston Astros, Bra...Latest news
