EU Reporter is proud to have sponsored the Journalists’ Charity Media Awards, held in Cardiff this month. The event in the Welsh capital raised money for an organisation founded by Charles Dickens, a journalist who became one of the greatest novelists the world has ever known. It also recognised achievements in journalism, at a time when it both faces more challenges and is more essential than ever, writes Nick Powell. A tow truck driver was arrested after crashing into several parked vehicles and one moving car in downtown Los Angeles early Friday morning. The crash was reported around 3 a.m. in the 1800 block of Griffith Avenue. Video showed the truck overturning and landing on the parked vehicles as it barreled down the street. A 63-year-old woman died after being hit by a driver in Los Angeles, authorities with the Los Angeles Police Department announced Friday.On Thursday around 10:35 p.m., a vehicle traveling eastbound on Manchester Boulevard collided with the woman as she was walking across the intersection at Cimarron Street, a news release said.The driver fled the scene, traveling eastbound on Manchester Boulevard without stopping, identifying themselves, or helping the victim.The woman died at the scene, officials said. TAMPA, Fla. — A 65-year-old California fugitive who eluded authorities for nearly four decades before his arrest in June has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for killing a Florida woman.Donald Santini pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a deal with prosecutors to avoid a first-degree murder charge. (KRON) – San Mateo County Libraries has launched a three-month pilot program offering over 1,800 free diaper kits to support families in need. Families are invited to pick up kits including free diapers and wipes. Supplies are on a first-served basis.
