CHICAGO -- The Chicago Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a missing 28-year-old woman who was last seen on Saturday, July 29.Grace McManus, 28, was last seen at her residence on the 1800 block of West Evergreen Avenue in Chicago's West Town neighborhood at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 29. CPD searching for endangered, missing elderly woman from Portage Park McManus is described as 5-foot-5, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. (NEXSTAR) – Many late summer vacationers to Florida, the Caribbean and parts of Mexico will have cleaner beaches to look forward to, thanks to a shrinking seaweed mass that threatened to overwhelm coastal communities. University of South Florida researchers said Monday the quantity of seaweed in the Great Atlantic Sargassum Belt "decreased substantially" between June and July. The seaweed belt remains huge – there's an estimated 6 million tons of sargassum still floating around – but it's down several million tons in just a few months. That's good news for residents, visitors and workers of beach areas of the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean. BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) — First responders said they're working Tuesday afternoon to evacuate homes as a "precautionary measure" because of a wildfire burning near Bastrop State Park. According to the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management, the houses affected are located between Harmon Road and Pine Hill Loop in Bastrop. It's unclear how many homes are impacted at this time. Neighbors are advised to contact the county hotline at (512) 303-4300 for more information. Initial reports had the fire's location listed as the area of Hwy. 71 and Harmon Road. The size of the fire, which is now called the Powder Keg Pine Fire, is estimated to be one acre at this time and is zero percent contained. Emergency management officials said there are no reports yet of injuries or damage to any homes or buildings. Crews are currently working to extinguish the wildfire, and they're asking people to please avoid the area. WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- The Hill Country Conservancy is poised to open a 1,205-acre nature preserve in Williamson County, following a donation from an anonymous landowner.The land is described as "ecologically sensitive" and was given to the nonprofit conservancy "to be used for conservation, research, educational outreach and public recreation," per a Tuesday release.
