AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Temperatures for the next seven days will be more in line with those we feel in late December and early January. We look to the next seven days being forecast with most highs in the mid/upper 50s to low/mid 60s.Wind gusts have exceeded 30 mph in some cities so far today. The gusty winds will continue through the middle of the afternoon at 20 to 30 mph before easing off once the sun goes down.Strong north winds continue through late this afternoonThis afternoon's forecast challenge is when the overcast will start to clear. SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 32-year-old Schenectady man was taken into custody on Thursday night following a traffic stop on Erie Boulevard. State Police observed a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation and discovered the driver, Jeremiah Torres, did not possess a valid driver's license. According to police, officers discovered a controlled substance, illicit drug packaging materials, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Torres was also found to have felony-weight narcotics on his person. Police charged Torres with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the second degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. ST. LOUIS --Three Amur tiger cubs were born at the Saint Louis Zoo on November 13, marking the first successful tiger births in over a decade. This event is a significant contribution to the population of Amur tigers in North American zoos. They are among the most endangered big cat species globally.The cubs' parents are Reka, a 5-year-old mother, and Maxim, an 11-year-old father. The mother and cubs are healthy and live in a private den within Big Cat Country.The first months of a tiger's life are crucial, and the Animal Care team is closely monitoring the family. Reka is attending to the cubs by cleaning, feeding, and keeping them warm. In the upcoming weeks, the cubs will undergo their first checkup with the Zoo’s Veterinary Care team. This examination will also determine the sex of each cub, with the naming process to follow. So many Coloradans responded to a call to donate pieces of their livers that Children’s Hospital Colorado expects every child in need of a transplant this year will get one.Hopefully, others will show the same generosity next year, since additional local children will get sick and kids in other parts of the country are still waiting for life-saving organs, said Dr. Amy Feldman, medical director of the liver transplant program at Children’s Hospital Colorado.In early September, the hospital asked healthy adults to consider donating a section of their livers.Ten children were waiting at the time, and the University of Colorado Hospital hadn’t recovered as many livers from deceased donors as in previous years. The Interstate 70 mountain Express Lanes will open for longer hours around Thanksgiving and Christmas to accommodate the expected busy holiday travel.Gov. A boat suspected of smuggling people illegally into the United States was intercepted off the coast of Malibu on Monday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.The vessel was spotted during a routine patrol by the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Blackfin, the agency said in a statement. A smaller vessel, along with aircraft and law enforcement agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection were deployed and towed the boat to shore.
